A Tale of Two Mimics

General Summary

Hammer 15, Year 2 As Alexander the Mighty (Bryan ) continued to familiarize himself with Last Rest, he noticed a flyer on the notice board, advertising a celebration hosted by Embra and Amalika at the Necromancer's Tower. Enticed by free food, he set out east and encountered a new hero: M (Rachel ), a curious harengon sorcerer, talking to herself in the woods. The two quickly exchanged compliments, bragged about their strength, and crushed acorns in their biceps as they wandered to the party together.   The party itself was popping. Music, smells of hearty lamb stew, and frivolity filled the air, as many of the citizens of Last Rest had made the pilgrimage to the newly (and far less ominously) re-landscaped Necromancer Tower. As Amalika entertained a cohort of visibly powerful looking heroes on the top of the tower, Embra sold bone jewelry and Ina served food below. They also met Commander Barksdale, who provided a tip about a mysterious cabin in the woods that never seemed to stay in the same place. Any information on the cabin or proof of its existence came with a sizeable bounty. So, M and Alexander finished their stew, purchased the entire table's worth of bone jewelry, and set off into the woods.   Despite some misadventures involving M wild magic surging herself into a potted plant, she and Alexander managed to locate the cabin, finding a cozy interior and an ornately decorated chest inside. As soon as Alexander touched the chest however, a large purple tongue engulfed his 2'11" frame, as a mimic inside the cabin revealed itself.   The heroes fought, and eventually took down the mimic chest. However, as the monster was nearing its end, they noticed that the walls were starting to move in a strange way, and that the ceiling molding started to look quite a lot like teeth. As a humongous purple tongue emerged from the fireplace, they realized that they were fighting a mimic inside a mimic.   Realizing that they were outmatched by the gigantic cabin mimic, they turned to flee. However, stuck in M's fur were both shards of the cabin, proving its existence for the bounty, as well as a curious magical shard, pulsing with sorcerous energies.   +1 Songs of Glory: M, Alexander
