A Past Unhallowed: Oaths Taken, Oaths Restored, Ch. 1

General Summary

After aiding Domokos establish himself as Warlord of the Crimson Pact, Riven wings their way northward, eager to uncover more of their past and the secret history of their people. Grounded by the black arrows of patrolling wraiths, they eventually arrived at the ruins of Lunaraeth Keep, the former Headquarters of the Silent Watch; wounded, exhausted, and unmindful of the lurking threat in their old home, Riven is set upon by revenants bearing the armor and insignia of their former comrades in arms. Suddenly perceiving a tear in the fabric of time in that place, Riven reaches out to try to slip through the grasping fingers of the undead horde—but finds themselves frozen in time, the stitch unraveling beyond their control, and the broken bodies of their old friends breaking in crippling waves upon their immobilized form.
Riven dies.
At least, that Riven does.
Another makes it through the rift, borne back to a familiar autumn heat and the comfort of a war of their own choosing.
And a third remains standing in an empty ruin, the undisturbed bones of long-dead wardens in silent repose at their feet.
