Nemadur (nɛ·mʌ·dʌr)

Nemadur was an ancient monk and innovator, most well-known as the namesake of Clan Nemadur and inventing pants. He dwelled in the taiga strip alone, occasionally teaching ethics and spirituality to exiles before sending them farther south. In life, he was notorious for his seemingly aimless wandering and refusal of any compensation. Years after his final confirmed encounter, his image became a well-known cryptid. Many records tell of sudden appearances long past his lifetime, only for him to quickly disappear once more.

Biography

Early Life

Nemadur grew up in Clan Aenun. He was notably keen to impress and proudly adventurous, but kind to a fault. He failed his first hunting rite when a large predator intervened, but successfully completed it on his second attempt.

Adult Years

Sometime as a young adult, Nemadur invented pants by cutting a skirt down the middle and sewing each side together to form pant legs. According to the classic Aenun fable, his pants were seen as too immodest. When told to destroy them, Nemdaur chose to exile himself into the "uninhabitable" taiga strip below Aenun territory. The fable suggests he died, teaching children against being too stubborn and ignorant.

Despite the fable's ending, Nemadur survived the taiga by turning mammal pelts into layers of heavy, insulated clothing. Accounts of his later followers suggest he spent much of his early taiga life contemplating his situation while struggling to survive. This lead to his spiritual awakening, bringing him to a more content state of mind despite the harsh conditions. He channeled his peace into everything he did, and to everyone he met. The remainder of his known life includes a cycle of wandering the taiga, teaching spirituality to exiles, and sending them farther south. This new group of southerners grew quickly into Clan Nemadur, in honor of their beloved mentor.

Physical Description

General Physical Condition

Nemadur is thin but fit, with short shoulders and wide hips. His head frills are a tad bit shorter than average.

Facial Features

Nemadur has purple eyes, more horizontal than most saikkots. His pupils are usually more rounded than sharp.

Identifying Characteristics

Nemdaur is covered head-to-toe in a mass pattern of scars. He wears abnormal clothing, being a multitude of layered pelts and clothing.

Mannerisms

Followers of Nemadur recount him squinting and smirking often, as if knowing something they were not aware of before. He used a lot of body motion and nodding to convey what would normally be said through frillspeak.
