Types of Magic

The world of Pronis has six types of magic. Each type has its own rules, practitioners and is viewed differently throughout the world at large. The types are listed below in ascending order or rarity (the article closest to the top is the most common, the article closest to the bottom is the least common.)   Arcane Magic: Magic, be it spells, spell-craft, meta-magic, supernatural ability, talent or power that the user acquires from a source that is not "gifted" in origin (be that "gift-giver" celestial, fiend, demon, fey, extraplaner, etc.)   Divine Magic: Magic, be it spells, spell-craft, meta-magic, supernatural ability, talent or power that the user has been granted or "gifted" by a non-mortal being (e.g. celestial, fiend, demon, fey, etc.) This type of magic must be given voluntarily.   Nature Magic: Magic, be it spells, spell-craft, meta-magic, supernatural ability, talent or power that the user draws from the environment and the earth itself (this magic does not come from nature deities of nature spirits).   Blood/Form Magic: Magic, be it spells, spell-craft, meta-magic, supernatural ability, talent or power that the user draws from their own being, be that blood, flesh, bone, etc.   Thrall Magic: Magic, be it spells, spell-craft, meta-magic, supernatural ability, talent or power that the user channels from another enslaved being, using that being as a conduit. This type of magic is almost always given non-voluntarily and requires coercion of some type to be considered thrall magic.   Essence Magic: Magic, be it spells, spell-craft, meta-magic, supernatural ability, talent or power that the user draws from the very fabric of reality itself, utilizing sources like time and space.   (Their are a number of exceptions to the six types and these are further elaborated in Important Elements of Magic.)
