Demographics

43% human 33% dwarvish 12% draconic 12% other races   Most of the inhabitants are criminals sentenced to labor in the mines.

Government

The settlement is under control of the Free City of Vapore , with an overseer placed to control the place.

Defences

The Pits are defended both from the outside in and from the inside out. The living quarters for the prisoners are located inside the quarry, with the only access being a strictly controlled elevator.
Around the settlement and the quarry there is a palisade strong enough to keep beasts outside.

Industry & Trade

Fracture's economy is based on the quarries of Ironglass and the exploitation of forced labor.
There are also paid miners, who usually don't work directly in the quarry, but supervise the work of the convicted.
There are small shops and artisans in the settlement, providing everyday needs
The quarried Ironglass is sent to Vapore via naval transport. Fracture is heavily dependant on Vapore for food supply.

Guilds and Factions

The Forgers' Guild runs almost every business in the settlement, and as the monopoly over the extraction of Ironglass.
The Scars are a gang of inmates. The name comes from the widespread practice of carving a scar on the back of the skull to show affiliation to the gang. They exploit the weakness of other inmates to get goods and money. Some of the Scars have been able to smuggle inside or craft weapons, and use them to provoke riots and chaos in the quarry.
