Z is a changeling from the nation of Luoth. Born with a rare alteration to their natural shapechanging abilities, Z has virtually no control over what form they takes at any given time. Known as an "empathic changeling", they has resigned themself to staying as far away from civilization as they can so that they may spend at least some of their life as their true self.

History

Early Life

Zoenai Tavariki was born on the 3rd of Pouis, 7E 557, to a family of changelings living near the city of Aultanda in Luoth. From the moment of their birth, Z's family knew they were going to be different. They were born with distinctive black sclera and slit-shaped pupils, two signs of a rare subtype of changeling known as an empathic changeling. These changelings, unlike their more traditional kin, lacked direct control over their abilities. Instead, empathic changelings were entirely at the mercy of those around them. Even the most well-adjusted empathic changelings are only able to choose who influences their change, they are unable to control what they turn into themselves.
Growing up, Z's parents did their best to prepare them for life as an empathic changeling, though as an impressionable child, their drive to "prepare" their kid did more harm than good. When one physically changes to match the desires of those around them, it doesn't take long for that abilty to impact their mentality as well. As a result, growing up, Z spent nearly all of their time looking like their siblings. After all, compared to them, their siblings were perfect, and all their parents ever wanted was for Z to be another perfect child.
