When the Arcaneum Federation was founded, the Grand Magistral Court was comprised of twelve members. Over time, four of those positions were removed, due to the Federation deeming their study to be either forbidden or unnecessary.   Following the chaos of the Lithos War that ended the Fourth Era, a large-scale religious revival was beginning to overtake much of the world. The Arcaneum Federation opted to use this moral panic to institute a number of reforms, chief among them the criminalization of the practices of necromancy and hemomancy. Hemomancy specifically was still well in its infancy as a school of magic and did not have a position on the Court, and as such was simply tacked on to the planned necromancy ban as an attempt to prevent the usage of this variety of magic to skirt necromantic regulations. Many other nations had installed similar bans following the end of the Fourth Era, however the Court's was notable in the fact that it did not include exceptions for revival magic performed in religious temples.   Beginning in 5E 407, the Grand Arcturian Academy had begun to restructure its approach towards magical classifications. In doing so, the Academy had dissolved the school of mysticism, as nearly all of its abilities fit under the new definitions for abjuration and enchantment. With nearly the entire Grand Magistral Court having studied at the Academy, it was decided that they would adopt the new classifications and reorganize the Court to match.   Kinemancy focused on enhancing one's physical abilities, such as increasing your jump height or physical strength. For many, the appeal of magic comes from being able to do things that seem outlandish, and something as simple as enhancing what one can already do meant that few were interested in further pursuing the practice. As a result, few were able to hold the position, and even fewer were qualified to do so. When the last Chief Magistrate of kinemancy passed in the year 5E 459 and there was no spellcaster to replace them, the rest of the council chose to simply remove their position.   The most recent school to be outlawed, chronurgy, was outlawed in the year 6E 7. This change marked the end of the Court's long-held stance towards transparency, as no justifications were supplied.
