Needlethrush is a rare bacterial infection caused by getting scraped or cut by the thorns of either a needlebore plant or a needlespawn. The disease is extremely fast-acting, with most cases of needlethrush running its course within a matter of a week to ten days.
Signs of Infection
Signs of infection can best be split into two categories: physical and mental. The physical signs start localized around the wound, appearing as a large inflammed patch surrounded by large cysts. As the infection runs its course, the cysts spread across the body in large vine-like patterns, eventually reaching the vital organs.
The mental changes are significantly more drastic, with most cases resulting in an almost feral state. At first, the infected individual begins acting noticeably more aggressive and irritable, before eventually they become consumed by a singular hunger. It's unclear exactly what the hunger is for, as by this point, the person has fully lost the ability ot communicate in any capacity, arcane or otherwise.
