Myths of the Beastkind

The myths of the Beastkind are stories from across Yrnath that all share a common theme, despite being created independent of one another. For ease of understanding, the stories have been abridged and collected into a single entry, with each story outlined below.

Stories

The Wolves of the Dead Forests

In early Lurian cultures, there were many stories of men shaped like wolves appearing near burial sites at night, attacking those who would venture too close regardless of intentions. Many adventurers were hired to fight off the wolf-men, though all were tragically lost to the creatures they were hunting.

The Boy with Dragon's Blood

One of the foundational myths in Witfordian culture centers around a young boy who was born to two human parents under unusual circumstances. From his mother laying an egg to the boy developing draconic wings at the age of 5, the people of his village believed him to be an omen of evil.

The Dragon Queen of Ushana

This story, originating in the nation of Ushana, tells of a queen of the Vectillian Dynasty who was born with the ability to transform into a large sapphire gem dragon. She would use her power to fight off opponents and instill loyalty in her subjects through fear, ultimately being defeated by those who came to fear her so much they would rather risk death than continue to serve beneath her.

The Family of Men and Beasts

In Prozesian mythology, LeanaĆ, the Goddess of Children, is said to have a large family of abandoned children. Some versions of the story, such as those told by worshippers who also attribute the domain of beasts to the goddess, claim that she curses the children with beast forms, and uses them to steal naughty children away from their families to join hers.
