Astraelite (æs-trɐ-laɪt)

Astraelite is a rare mineral that is found in large deposits near astral streams. Historians consider this mineral to be a large contributor to the technological evolution seen in the Feywild compared to the Central Plane.

Description

Astraelite is a semisolid mineral that is easily malleable and can be harvested by hand or with simple shovels. Astraelite is comparable to a sponge, as material grows organically alongside the astral streams that dot the Feywild thanks to the abundance of arcane energy that flows through them.

Uses

Astraelite has a variety of applications, from being used as a durable construction material to being distilled and included in a vast array of tinctures and brews. The natural arcane properties of astraelite can also be used to construct powerful arcane contraptions and equipment.
It is worth note that despite its ability to be used in a variety of consumable products such as potions, it is not advisable to consume raw astraelite. While technically possible due to its malleability, the mineral contains a high concentration of unpleasant chemicals, which can cause a host of deadly diseases.
For those who may find themselves in dire need of food while exploring the Feywild, survivalists have determined (largely through trial and error) the most effective way to "cure" astraelite:

Step 1: Place a thin layer of astraelite onto a metal sheet or similar fire-resistant flat object
Step 2: Place the astraelite over a campfire, let cook for 10-15 minutes
Step 3: Peel the astraelite off. Repeat steps 1 and 2 until no water is left behind on the sheet
