Jinhai

Pronounced Yin-Hai, generally speaking they are a race known to seek peace and resolutions over war, with the obvious exception of the T'alyu. They worship the Old Gods, those that were around before the The Great War, and this is their red line - they do not tolerate those who do not follow their gods.   They are Advanced humanoids native to Yr. They Speak Yinnish. They do not write by choice for they choose to live by word. To them the concept of writing traps the words forever, written words can mean something different from one day to the next, but spoken words come always from the heart.

Basic Information

Anatomy

This species is humanoid, with two arms, two legs. They tend to be quite slim, relying on wits and speed over physical strength.

Biological Traits

They have pale almost white skin, no hair, blue eyes (Always blue). They are humanoid. Taller than average at 7ft, generally slim. They are very nimble and bendy.

Ecology and Habitats

The Jinhai tend to live in the hills and the mountains, underground by the day and out in the night. Their skin and eyes are sensitive to the harsh sun, but not disastrously so. They do not appear to feel cold, and cold air and water does not hinder them. Their homes underground follow natural subterranean rivers and lakes. Where they cannot find naturally occurring caves they construct their own. They believe the natural subterranean rivers and lakes where they construct their homes are linked to the afterlife, and thus they consider themselves to be the natural gatekeepers to death.   Unfortunately for some Jinhai, they have been forced to live above ground to prosper in strategic locations against the T'alyu.

Biological Cycle

They say there was a time when the Jinhai were prone to hibernating during the warmer months of the year, however since the war with the T'alyu there has not been a Hibernation.

Additional Information

Social Structure

The Jinhai tend to live in close knit groups, with groups in single subterranean lakes often reaching hundreds or thousands.

Perception and Sensory Capabilities

Seem to be bothered by intense sunlight, their pale translucent skin and the strained look in their brow under a heavy sun would suggest that they are not used to this. They have wonderful vision in dark places.

Civilization and Culture

History

They believe they are the children of the old gods, born in the time of war against the ancients. It is said that they were born from the lakes hidden in mount Dranii. These lakes famously now contain aquatic mammals which they believe Erastil raised from being mere beasts to becoming them. Those left behind are treat with respect and reverence.

Historical Figures

Zou Qui is meant to be the founding father of the Jinhai.

Interspecies Relations and Assumptions

The Jinhai are in a constant state of holy war with the T'alyu. They are open to all who worship their gods. To them, the gods have left, but it is all creatures duty to wait for their return.   Animals seem to be unnerved by this species.
