Early 500 C.D. — Soteropolis
Shortly after the arrival of Acquisitions Incorporated Franchise K in the city of Soteropolis, the company accepted its first official contract within the region. The task was offered personally by Merlin, the legendary archmage of Avalon, who would become an important patron to the newly established franchise.
Merlin approached Franchise K with a matter of concern involving a missing wizard whose disappearance had left behind unanswered questions—and a powerful arcane tome that Merlin feared might fall into the wrong hands. The task given to Franchise K was simple in description but dangerous in implication: locate the missing wizard and retrieve the tome before it could be lost or misused.
This mission marked the first time the members of Franchise K encountered Merlin, establishing a relationship that would shape many of their future endeavors.
During their investigation, the party searched the wizard’s abandoned home in Semantica in the Socrates Forest. Among the scattered notes, arcane tools, and signs of struggle, they discovered a mysterious object: a small golden tube, similar in appearance to the artifact previously encountered by Raz’Thrakh Bloodhoof.
When Dimmir examined the object, the artifact reacted to his presence. Before the astonished eyes of those nearby, the tube transformed into a radiant Golden Rapier, revealing itself to be another of the Legendary Weapons of the Twelve Guardians.
At that moment, the weapon became magically bonded to Dimmir.
As the transformation occurred, the weapon served as a conduit for a hidden voice—much like the artifact that had spoken to Raz’Thrakh through Thrawn the Braveheart. Through the rapier, a presence revealed itself as Saphira, “The Life Giver,” one of the ancient Guardians tied to the legacy of the dragons.
Speaking only to Dimmir through the enchanted weapon, Saphira declared her intention to one day bond with him, marking the beginning of his path toward becoming a Dovahkiin.
Before the connection faded, she spoke a single cryptic phrase:
“Puff is the key.”
The moment was brief, mysterious, and conducted in absolute secrecy. Like the choosing of Raz’Thrakh Bloodhoof, the revelation occurred through one of the Legendary Guardian Weapons, ensuring that the message remained hidden from the wider world.
With this event, Dimmir became the second known individual in centuries to be chosen by the will of the Guardians, following the earlier selection of Raz’Thrakh Bloodhoof by Asgorath and Drako through Thrawn the Braveheart.
Unknown to the people of Soteropolis—or even to many within Franchise K—the ancient process that once created the legendary Dovahkiin had quietly begun again.
And it had begun with two chosen champions.
