Silica
Silica is a large town in the north of the Central District, with a well established mining facility; extracting masses of silicon, used to trade with the world. It is an important settlement for richer technological countries, as they need as much silicon as they can get to build their machinery and technology.
Demographics
The town has an almost even split between harmonids and alkadrakes, small dragon-harmonid hybrids. The population is not poor, nor rich, with the exception of a few rich people who profited majorly off of the silicon trading business, but those are few and far between.
Government
The bonus of having the biggest supply of silicon in the world is that taxes are not needed. Because of the amounts of money earned, these can pay the amount of taxes for the entire town twice over, and because of that (and to keep morale high), taxes were completely removed.
Industry & Trade
The town was accidentally built on large veins of silicon underground, some of the biggest amounts of silicon on Greenerth. They continued to mine this silicon despite not really having a use for it, until they were approached by other countries such as Kaltia and the Western District, who needed masses of silicon for their technology and machinery. Silica was able to earn tons of money from this material, and it was so valuable and benefited the town that they named themselves after it.
Infrastructure
In a small portion of the town, there are many windmills which can generate electricity for a decent chunk of it. The town is situated on the River Em, a large river that stretches through almost to the capital of the country. 6 bridges connect either side of the town, and plans have been made to build another 2, further south of the town.
Assets
Inside a vault underground, Silica has a store of silicon, probably worth upwards of 60 billion corral, incase they ever needed money; highly unlikely, since the world still needed silicon. They also have a considerable amount of gold, which they get paid in and then use to buy things that the town and its people need. The town's most prized possession is the Cinder Crown, an artifact from Ascor after the country was abandoned. How they managed to obtain the crown is unknown, but it attracts tourists and brings in even more money, since the crown is tied to the late Queen of Fire, a vengeful monarch who would behead anybody who got in her way.
Very cool.
Thank you!
