Oerina Cure

The oerina cure was one of the biggest scientific breakthroughs in terms of cures and vaccines. Developed by Karin Aaltero, she discovered a rare plant species, which contains an unusual mineral named terotite. This mineral is able to completely diminish and kill off oerina particles in a person's body.   The tero plant was discovered in 1536, whilst oerina started occuring in southern Vustrimia in 1522. By the time the cure was public and being used, the virus had already taken 2.5 million lives.

Utility

The discovery of the cure was purely accidental, Aaltero was on a hiking expedition up Blue Mountain as many do, when she found a cave system during a freak snowstorm.

Discovery

The tero plant was discovered within the cave system of Blue Mountain in the Frost Lands. Karin Aaltero was hiking when she discovered them, and the obtained a few samples of this plant and brought it back to her laboratory home in Tennasar. After analysing the specimens and running tests on its properties, she discovered a rare mineral within the roots, which she names terotite. This mineral had the ability to completly kill off virus and bacteria particles, something never seen before. After gathering all her findings and reporting it to the head of science and vaccines, she managed to get dispensation to create a supposed cure for viruses. Due to the stability of this cure and the lack of symptoms and side-effects, the cure then became official and would then be used to cure all kinds of viruses, but labelling as a cure for oerina since that virus currently had no other cure.

Access & Availability

After months of testing and reports gathered, this cure then became officially available to the public. These cures were specially available at all pharmacists (by law), and three years later became an optional vaccine for newborn babies. So far in 2050, a whopping 94% of the harmonid population is vaccinated to protect themselves from oerina.
