Power in a Name

In a world of magic and mystery, names are powerful things. A misspoken word when casting powerful magic could spell disaster, giving your name to a spirit could mark you, and calling the wind by the wrong could mean death.

But power works both ways, possessing the name of a god or a spirit, knowing their true name means power over them. Some beings, usually those who bring good to the world, offer their true identities freely, while others keep that knowledge so secret some have even forgotten their own names.

In Yonder you will find that most deities, spirits and even powerful monsters hold titles instead of names to prevent mortals from gaining control. The Heroes Six once learned the name of a god, and look how that turned out…
