The Raid on Little Barkstone
General Summary
After leaving Barkstone, the party left their boat in Aller, along with Kano Jiro, Lincoln and Kail. Kail went to visit the Temple of Inr in the city, Lincoln asked around after Jørgansson and learned he stopped in Aller, he has a scar on his forehead and wore a Blackwood emblem on his clothing. He also carried a pouch which he kept very close. Kano Jiro left the party to stay with friends in the city and recover from his ordeal.
The party hired a 4x4 and drove down to Little Barkstone. Stuffing Jinsu in the back and binding him with the Omnishackles, they set off. While travelling they argued with Jinsu, who displayed a lack of respect for Gao, but also a care for his emotional wellbeing. He also revealed he is under the belief that Gao and Zo together directly caused the destruction of the Sanctuary by pitting the giants against one another.
The discussion was cut short when the front end of the 4x4 fell though the ground into a Deep Elf’s subterranean house. With some considerable effort they lifted the car out of the house. The Deep Elves told them that no one who wasn’t a devout follower of Panus had been to Little Barkstone and survived the journey in the last couple of years.
None the less the party continued onward, and not long into their journey the car ground to a halt as four arrows pierced their tires. Somnis detected the aura of several humanoids in the trees, and one humanoid on the roof. After a small skirmish, Kasumi revealed herself to Gao, holding her blade to his throat. Alda struck out and found Kasumi’s blade at her throat instead. Kasumi recognised Alda as undead and told her that she should be dead. Alda bated Kasumi into trying and so Kasumi beheaded Alda. A fight once more broke out. Eventually, with the use of telekinetic barriers, the fight boiled down to an uneasy peace and Kasumi and Gao separates themselves from the rest of the group to discuss. The rest of the party met the Tree Ghost Tribe, the other hiding in the trees.
Kasumi revealed she was under a similar impression as Jinsu as to Gao and Zo’s malintent. Though she was just as sceptical at Jinsu and his motives. Gao was able to persuade Kasumi that he wasn’t all that bad, and she begrudgingly adopted a neutral stand point. They were able to negotiate a trade, Jinsu for the Untouchable Bracez.
They then waited 24 hours for Alda to recover. After 24 hours, her head stitched itself back to her neck and she returned to undeath. In the intervening time she had found herself suspended above a kettle with a perpetual flame keeping it boiling and a decanter of endless water to keep it full.. the room was shadowy and the outside dark and alien. There were signs that someone, possibly Harold, frequented this room, though while suspended there Alda saw no one come or go.
After her recovery, the party returned to Aller before preparing to head off to Byzmyth quary where they believe the Ebony Light has come to rest.
