Rael Dulaenthan
Being a male in a drow society isn't easy, especially for those with ambitions. Rael is one of those individuals. Lucky for him he showed serious magic potential which gave him access to the 'Sorcere' - the school of magic in Siglathil.
Coming from one of the most powerful houses he knew that he would both have a lot of opportunities and a huge target on his back. Still he survived his education and returned to his house to rather serve his ambitious matron in her plans to gain power instead of seaking to establish himself within the Sorcere as teacher. He recognized Lolth's gaze on the house as one of his sisters successfully mated with a glabrezu gaining a draegloth child. The house also had frequent visits by a Yochlol. Nobody could deny such blessings as a sign of great things to come, thus Rael did whatever he could to further the houses plans.
When he was introduced into the plan of raiding the surface, a world that drow haven't seen in more than a thousand of years, his interest was peeked. He lead the effort of scouting the Underdark area where the breach to the surface would be happening as well as the secret preparations. Hiring kobolds to excavate old dwarfen ruins as well as staging grounds for the army of the house, he started to create a network of teleportation circles only he had access to, thus making him invaluable within the house itself, but also an asset to other drow houses should one attempt to bring down house Dulaenthan. To his annoyance its clear to him that for all the work he put into this campaign it will be priestesses from his family that will lead the raid and he and his effort will be merely seen as support.
Rael knows that the invasion on the surface world is going to be a chance to gather resources, slaves and more importantly the favor of Lolth, while at the same time it leaves the house in a weak state, as most of its forces won't be at the city. Should this operation fail due to his sisters' stupidity he doesn't expect that the house will survive it as others will jump as the chance to remove one of the ruling eight families.
