Oloun Xorrbin
Being the nephew of a matron mother will often mean death as she removes her sisters and their children to secure her position within the house when she claims power. Bhael Xorrbin did the same to most of her sisters, yet she didn't bother killing all of the children hoping to bolster the families ranks as the house wasn't too powerful when she took over. Oloun was one of these survivors.
Yet Olouns luck didn't run far. While Bhael didn't mind having more drow around, she didn't bother sending him to Sorcere as was his ambition. She actually didn't bother investing too much in her sisters' children. This didn't sit well with a young drow looking for power and status. Barely getting the basic training his hunger to raise within the drow society wasn't being satisfied by the matron of his house.
Oloun therefore took it on himself to make sure he would get the training he felt he needed. Studying books within the house's own library he finally found a truth he probably wasn't ready for. Oloun was hungry for power, but he wasn't hungry enough to work for it. The truth hurt so bad that he decided that he needed distraction and something to get his mind off. Visiting the cities pleasure houses and enjoying himself he caught Aradel's ire. After one of his escapedes she beat him senseless when she found him heavily intoxicated with two slave hores.
Oloun needed several weeks to recover from it. Weeks spent in agony and sheer hatred for his lot. Knowing he was meant for more, but fate had him robbed of his greatness. The misery was followed by more drugs and debauchery until to his suprise he met someone - something that offered him power. Power he deserved. Power bought with his soul. And does it matter if you give it to Lolth or someone else? No. No, not at all.
Since then Oloun became a new man. Finally able to do the things that earned him status and respect within the house. Not even Bhael could ignore him any longer. His aunt gladly accepted him within the closer circle as a new source of arcane power. He also outsmarted Kuran, who got all the support from the family to get to Sorcere. Oloun's arcane experience made him an asset even master Rael Dulaethan valued and consulted with.
His fate had turned. All his ambitions were within his reach.
