Orcs: Founders of a New Religion.

Long ago, Orcs, Goblins, and many others who bore the crude name of the Soruk allied under a pantheon of gods. Their gods were wild, uncontrollable, and insatiable. Barbaric desires clashed with many other gods. All lands were gripped by fear, for their adopted children bore their unholy desires. Though it remains a mystery, the 'Divine Family' lost their path. The repercussions of this were worldwide. Orcs, once chained by the paths of their gods, were free.   No longer shackled to their restrictive and petty gods, the Orcs grew faster than any other race. The world trembles once again as the Orcs wage religious wars across the lands, done in the name of their new gods. These lands, along with every living thing, must be cleansed in blood and fire; for that is the only purpose an Orc can truly aspire to.

Basic Information

Anatomy

Orcs closely resemble the anatomy of Giants, though on a much smaller scale. Certain species of Orcs have been known to grow additional limbs.

Biological Traits

Forsaken are doomed to spend eternity being reborn into ever more degenerate monstrosities. A reproach to the gods and the world around them, each new life causes their minds and flesh to become more unrecognizable. Their flesh becomes too prone to mutations and failure as the mind and soul deteriorate. The cycle only ends once they perish at birth.   Orukas are Orcs blessed by the patron god they served in their past lives. An Orc who gains the capricious attention of their god is rewarded for the dedication shown in each passing life. A boon, reflecting their curried favor, is given. Blessings by the god of magic may be a Witch's Hand. A worthy tool of the Lord of Warfare may be born with the Prophet's Tongue.

Civilization and Culture

Naming Traditions

Orcs forgo naming their children and instead assume the name of their most infamous kill. This practice stems from the belief that their enemies will not reincarnate, seeking vengeance, if they have their names stolen from them. For this reason, Orcs often assume their first name around fifteen.

Culture and Cultural Heritage

Orcs are an abundantly religious, bordering superstitious race. Their teachings are the scavenged tenants of another death-focused religion based on the principles of Reincarnation. Despite the teachings having become degenerate long before the Orcs arrived, it gave insight into their way of life. From the ashes of the temples and the overturned idols, the Orcs discovered their new gods. With a core belief that they are not only trapped in an endless cycle but able to achieve godhood, every Orc now seeks to draw closer to their gods with each life. An Orc has one of three fates: Mastery of all things, becoming a champion of a single deity, or becoming forsaken once more.

Common Customs, Traditions and Rituals

Orcs desire godhood for their children and the favored young in their groups more than anything else. No Orc wishes for the offspring of their worst enemies to become a Forsaken. From a young age, Orcs become flooded with the god's teachings. They ride with the Elders and observe raids, becoming desensitized to the aspects of their gods.   Every night, gathered around communal fires, the Orcs stargaze. Orcs dedicate themselves to watching for meteor showers and looking upon each fallen star with abundant pride. Shooting stars are signs of other worlds succumbing to the Orcs, drug down, and consumed in flames. From these husks come new gods forged in malice and fervor unknown to this world. As the star falls from sight, the cycle continues anew, with new worlds becoming the victims of their kind. With feasts, drink, and new fervor for battle, all Orcs gather in unity, no matter what god or tribe they affiliate with. As the revelry dies, they are bolstered in their attempt to raze this world. In the name of their enlightened ancestors, they double their efforts.

History

The Orc religion fell when their gods stopped caring for them. Orcs were once a mighty race who shamelessly followed the atrocities that their gods had committed. Dedicating themselves to the spread of their god's infamy across the land. Thousands were butchered as sacrifices in the cities they conquered. Goblins lined carts with stolen gold and treasure beyond worth, sending them to the gods as additional sacrifices.   Despite all this, the gods would abandon them in their time of need.   The Orcs made camp outside Chanxi City, which was known to be flawless in design. That night bloody rain swept across the lands. Ignoring the evil omen, the Orcs suffered their most prolific defeat. A fraction of their numbers remained, so the Orcs fled into the wastes.   Orc scouts led them to a massive forked river, known as the Rodkan. It was there that they witnessed true divinity. A death cult, known as the Cult of Rebirth had flourished in the dying lands, offering its worshipers a chance to be reborn. Hundreds willingly walked into the maw of the Great Serpent as priests attempted to breed perfection. Although the Orcs did not adopt all of their ways, the Orcs took many liberties with their vanquished foes' culture.

Common Myths and Legends

To be dedicated to the god of Pain grants far greater strength and dexterity with every rebirth. Those who desire to serve this deity spend their days mastering several weapons and training to be as efficient as possible in combat. The god of Murder does not concern itself with the tangible. Magical prowess and scheming attract the god, who offers cruel secrets to those willing to use them. Warfare takes many forms, and any Orc with an inclination for leadership seeks this god's favor. Tactics, plagues, and famine are part of this god's domain.   An Orc who finds enlightenment in all three gods without being deceived into serving one above the other attains godhood. These new, fledgling gods are transported to new solar systems, to worlds devoid of Orcs. Without anything but their weapons and the goblins bound in eternal service to them, these chosen Orcs begin their work to destroy those stars, through the new races of Orcs created by them.   Forsaken Orcs are the product of those who fail the gods in an irredeemable way. Each rebirth leaves them more twisted and unsightly, resulting in the Forsaken being hunted by their peers. The young are seldom spared unless taken in by charitable Orcs.
