Session 0: Singles Ready to Mingles Report
General Summary
We met our heroes: the beautiful celebrity acrobat Solana Zazal, better known by her stage name “Lady Flame,” the emaciated and understated cleric of Katay, Eli Monpress, and the hero of the slums, Xarl Imvaernarhro (ZAHL Imveignho). Your story together began when Eierbyn Shalti, a man of comical proportions, but exceptional wealth, gave Xarl an urgent task of assassinating a black haired wealthy woman named Misala and taking her ring made of firestone (a precious stone found only in Kehanet). Eyes told Xarl that there had been disturbances throughout the world, a Chosen of one of the Baraba was in the city that night to target seers and sages from the House of the All Seeing Orb (Temple of Ki). Clerics, paladins, scholars were being targeted by this Chosen.
Xarl, normally you would have spent more time casing the location, putting together an entry and egress plan, and briefing your team, but this time your go-to rogue was nowhere to be found. All of that time you normally would have spent planning the op had to go to finding someone discreet, trustworthy, skilled, and on the right side of your good and evil spectrum. Your old friend, Elkon Marpet, a goliath monster tamer from Circus Gravitas brokered an introduction between you and his very good friend, the famous Solana Zazal. You warned her it would be a shit show and were surprised by how few questions she asked before placing her life in your hands. Elkon made you swear to protect her, something neither of you take lightly. When you got to the location and briefed the team, it was almost morning and your chance to act was almost gone. You made clear to everyone involved that you had no idea what you all were walking into.
Well, the entry into the building went smooth enough. The first floor of the inn seemed almost deserted. Eerily so. You clocked a dead bartender behind the bar and a barmaid that had been carelessly discarded behind a table near the stairs, the symbol of loucura carved into the flesh of both corpses. You silently ascended to the room you knew to be housing your quarry. The woman you had followed earlier that evening was a Yuan-ti pureblood. You had been tracking 4 bodyguards with her and two additional shadows meeting this room with them when you left to assemble your team. It turned out she was traveling with two yuan-ti anathema, two yuan-ti pit servants, and the two additional unseen figures were two summoner mariliths. All had been wearing rings of human perfection. You couldn’t have known the deadly encounter you were walking into.
Xarl, you had to admit Solana had fought admirably before she was cut down. It was incredible watching her dive in and out of combat, and that she had been able to steal all 10 rings from Misala’s hands (despite holding scimatars in both of her own hands the entire fight). At the sight of Solana falling unconscious, you smashed Misala’s head with your great maul, completing your mission, and dove out the third story window to save Solana and hopefully carve out an exit for the rest of your team. With Solana’s limp body over your shoulder, you turned into a dank alley in an effort to dodge your pursuers and met the homeless Dr. Eli Monpress, who despite his unconventional methods was able to save Solana’s life. Knowing staying in one place for too long was too dangerous, Xarl led Solana and the good cleric to a safehouse that Eyes had previously provided him.
To all your surprise, Eyes was there waiting for you, ready to dole out rewards and sweep you all to the safety of his home in the sky for a night. The following week was a bit of an adjustment period for all of you, but mostly Eli, who had been provided his own private chalet in the upper middle-class part of the city and signed on as a veterinarian for the circus. You all met the androgynous genasi-gnome ringleader of the circus, Jou the Magnificent. Jou and Eyes hammered out a detailed contract employing Xarl as Solana’s bodyguard.
Since that night, Elkon gifted Eli with a puppy that he named Buddy. Eli’s icebox is magically enchanted to refill per his preferences. Xarl, your bodyguard activities have not affected your life in any way other than you have to watch Solana a lot more than you did before and you are getting paid for your day AND night jobs now. You do have to work a little harder to get to the orphanage unless you talk Solana into going with you. Your new house transport system is working out well for you and things seem to be looking up for the first time in a while. Solana, one of your guilty pleasures is reading the local tabloid while you eat breakfast. Something that has amused you recently is the headline “Bodyguard or Boyfriend? With an artistic rendering of a time you jumped on Xarl’s shoulders after practice one afternoon. “Could Solana bridge the race gap in Kehanet?” Then another the other day that read “Trendsetter. Solana Encourages Stargazing” and an artistic rendering of you and Eli laying out on his balcony during a time you tried to convince him to sleep indoors.

Safehouse:
- Eyes knows about a tree dying from his visions
- Told them about gods waging war, Taika being attacked, etc. He told it in a way that the fates would tell it--full of possibilities--rather than anything as definite. Not clear what the current destiny of Xotera is.
- All they can do is protect their part of Xotera from that push for evil.
- Flying squirrel thing came in, Eyes caught it, communed with it, shouldered it, and said he is needed elsewhere.
Notes
Spent the next month settling into your new friendships/ roles in the city.
Elkon came to check on the puppy/ work on training it for its act. Also asked Eli for advice on critters. He acquired an invisible stalker he keeps on a leash.
Eyes gave Xarl consistent work at night like normal + magic to allow him to rest.
Solana did her usual and showed Eli around some.
