Human
Humans are an extremely rare species on Xogia. It is currently accepted that, based on accounts from historical humans, they do not originate on Xogia and are occasionally transported here through means that are unknown to both us and them. The place they are from is called Earth.
Before 1514, when the human known as Meg (later Queen Meg) arrived in Xogia, it was largely believed that humans were a mythical creature. All historical accounts of them were dismissed as fiction, as there was no evidence to suggest that such creatures had ever truly existed on Xogia. Queen Meg, as well as Queen Abby who arrived a year after Queen Meg, were, however, historically significant figures who are known to have existed. Royal portraits of them have been found, as well as photographs from one of the early cameras developed in Brolux, likely taken when they, and King Feyrith, were visiting that country.
There are accounts of a third human in Xogia during the same time period as Queen Meg and Queen Abby, though the existence of this human is much less well documented, so it is unknown if he truly existed. It would be foolish to dismiss the possibility entirely, though it cannot be considered fact as things currently stand.
Humans have two legs and two arms, they stand upright despite their lack of tails, and their fur is limited to the hair on their heads, under their arms and surrounding their genitals as well as finer fur cover the rest of their bodies. There are some accounts that say some humans can grow thicker hair on their faces, but this is not confirmed. They have two eyes and one mouth on rather flat faces with a nose that only sticks out slightly. While sexual dimorphism in humans is slightly more than in maaron, they appear to socially put more weight in the differences between male and female humans, basing their ideas of gender around such things.
This is not universal, of course. Queen Abby was known to be a human who identified herself as the human gender of 'woman' despite it not matching her physical sex. It has been said that Queen Abby became quite fond of maaron genders, however, and embraced being leli as well as a woman.
You may have noticed that the third, unconfirmed, human was referred to as 'he' despite the fact that all humans are considered leli as default due to their colouring. This is because what little is known about this possible human includes the story that he was insistent that he be referred to as an ekte rather than as a leli or even as kizu. If you believe this human to have truly existed, it implies that humans can be transgender, something that was previously thought to only apply to those maaron who felt their gender did not properly suit them.
Another quirk of humans, according to accounts that seem to have been written by close friends of Queen Meg and Queen Abby, is that they are fertile throughout the entire year, rather than having a heat cycle. There are no recorded accounts of human pregnancy on Xogia, as it is rare enough for human to encounter each other in the first place, let alone encountering humans that they might wish to reproduce with. Upon surface glance, Queen Meg and Queen Abby might have been able to reproduce, and those accounts we had mentioned implied that Queen Meg had wondered about such a thing occurring, but it never did.
There have been some stories that involve humans and maaron having children together, but as that has been proven to be impossible, it is accepted that those are works of fiction. Humans and maaron are fundamentally different species, and if such crossbreeding were possible, it would raise a number of questions on the origin of both species.
Humans are not capable of initiating telepathic contact, and thus the maaron who wishes to speak with a human must initiate the conversation. Once the conversational link is formed, the human will be able to reply as easily as any maaron until the conversation ends and the link is broken. It seems as though humans can learn how to end conversations, even if it is impossible for them to begin them. It is currently unknown as to why this is, as there has been no opportunity to study a human's mind in a modern setting.
Interestingly, there is an exception to this rule, and it is if the humans have formed an ihna bond with a maaron. There has been only one account of this happening, and it was between Queen Abby, Queen Meg and King Feyrith. It was said that once the bond had been formed, Queen Abby and Queen Meg were able to not only begin conversations with King Feyrith, they were also able to speak with each other without their human vocalizations. This is something that has not been studied, nor has it been confirmed to be certainly true, but there are enough accounts of this ihna bond to make it quite likely.
There is so much that is unknown about humans due to their rarity. Unfortunately, the last known sighting of a human in Xogia was nearly a hundred years ago. I can only hope that another of these beings make their way to us soon.
