The Walkers

A common fairytale or piece of folklore in An-Kerrar.   A vivid and terrifying bedtime story.

Summary

Stories and rumors abound in An-Kerrar about the Walkers.   They are said to be human in appearance, and stalk the mountains of the Dread Range.   They appear to be wraith-like in nature and ability.   They are said to stalk wayward travelers, taking on the language and mannerisms of their prey, previous and present, to fool them. They are supposed to lure them off precipices, to use "campfires" to attract their quarry, to possess, abuse, misuse and consume their victims.   These stories began to surface around the same time that The Society did.

Spread

Mostly a legend heard in An-Kerrar, though some families or individuals from there or nearby - or some rare few who have visited and returned - share these stories also. Whether they are true or not, only The Society knows for sure.

Cultural Reception

Not widely known by outside cultures.
Date of First Recording
Last concrete recording was around 4800, though The Society affirms Walkers have been around, and spoken about, for much longer.

These events are not thought to have ceased.
