Night of Black Flame

The event happened during the age of king Sirius the Second. Sirius was not that great a leader, as during his time there was famine, drought, civil war, etc. and so during his time, his council and himself thought up a plan. To take the heat off themselves of the current climate and so many incidents, they decided to pivot toward religion.   Becoming a 'Holy King' and announcing that all the issues in the land were due to their land's religious standing. He announced that due to their worship of 'incorrect' gods, the 'proper' ones had decided to punish them and inflict them with such disasters. In order to push this story, he began putting pressure on certain religious sects and their gods. Even as things began to get better, these religions were still persecuted. This came to a head until a certain night in Vinovo.   One warm summer night, Sirius dispatched his soldiers throughout the land and raided each holy site, church, and place of worship of these 'incorrect' gods. Killing many who resisted and arresting the rest. The act which solidified this night was lighting each site on fire, but among each regiment of soldiers was a mage who changed the flames from the familiar orange to a dark black. Timing the attacks properly, the sun rose as each site was set ablaze, showing the world 'the darkness of these gods and that purging them will lead them to a better place'. The dark flames roamed throughout the lands and to this day only a list of 'correct' gods are allowed to be worshipped. After that night, it became a crime to worship gods outside of those allowed by King.   The list of allowed gods is as follows:   Lucio, God of the Sun and Day Dar, God of War and Battle Areva, Goddess of Knowledge and Learning Isa, Goddess of Love Shaila, Goddess of the Hunt and Foraging Nevena, Goddess of Harvest and Bounty   Scholars still debate about Sirius' time and what he did, but the effects of his actions are still being felt to this day.
