Impious March

After Liberium Bellum, also known as the war of the gods, the land began to settle and the rise of mortals began. Those closely associated with the gods and nature were the top of the ranks, as they held divine and primal magics. The influence of individuals with these powers began to spread and thus their ideals. One of which is that the undead were abominations and were to be stricken down wherever they may reside.
This idea would prevail throughout the centuries, until rumblings on the northern continent, where monsters roamed, began to spread. Word said that there lied a pair of liches that began to rule over the land as Emperor and Empress and they were beginning to organize them and the land itself. Upon hearing this, the established kingdoms and nations of the world set out to destroy them and whatever evil deeds they may have planned. This began the conflict and it was a conflict with a not so easy resolution.
The many kingdoms and nations invaded and began to destroy all they say from goblin village to Orc strongholds. After sometime, it was seen that the structures that these beings weren't just simple things built from twigs and mud, but were fortifications and structures like they had back in their homelands. This brought fear to all those who invaded as they could see that these monsters were not only strong, but were smart and seemingly getting smarter. The monsters fought back hard and fended off the invaders all throughout the conflict and were formidable.
Those strong enough were able to fight through to the capital where the liches were, but no one was able to return from the place where undead of all sorts were powerful and numerous. This conflict ran on for centuries with each side fighting and losing people. Eventually the sides finally came to an agreement, with the result being that those on the northern continent establishing their own kingdoms and nations and be recognized as their own people on a worldwide scale, calling their new land Novis. To this day, there are still those who keep to the old ways and wish to destroy these lands and destabilize everything that they have built.
The people in these lands people their own villages, culture, and technology. They became a haven for all those in other lands that were seen as monsterous and wrong, seeking a place to live in peace and live away those that wanted to see them dead. Their borders are open and they do communicate with others on a global scale, but prejudice against those that come from here is strong in certain areas and it can be a dangerous thing, to this day, to declare that you come from these lands.
