High Celestial

The first beings created by Xeun. Cosmically powerful and immortal, they are the most advanced species in existence aside from Xeun himself

Biology

Anatomy

Much like lesser Celestials, the High Celestials have three forms:

  • True Form

High Celestials are beings comprised soley of vast amounts magical energy, and their true form reflects this fact. This form is incomprehensibly large and bright, and radiates out huge levels of chaotic magical energy.

  • Physical Form

Due the sheer amount of energy it radiates, the true form of a celestial is incapable of existing on the material plane for long periods of time. As a result, Celestials that choose to appear on the material plane take up a physical form. Although these forms can take any shape, like most Celestials, The High Celestials will tend to choose to take on the shape of a humanoid being of light.

Due to their much higher level of power than that of a lesser Celestial, High Celestials are far less capable of concealing their true power in their physical form. This often results in a faint aura surrounding them which is visible to most people.

  • Monarch Forms

Each of the High Celestials has a third form reflecting the realm it rules over. These Monarch forms are akin to the Domain forms of deified Celestials, in the sense that they vary wildly in appearance between individuals, with the form being tied to the nature of the individual itself as well as their realm.

The Monarch Forms of each of the High Celestials are:

  • Sceos, Lord of the Celestial Realm- A figure of pure white light with wings made out of the same substance. It wears a crown and robe of stars.
  • Selvol, Lord of the Abyss- A horned figure of flowing shadow with six wings made out of the same substance. It wears a crown and robe of darkness.
  • Soketh, Lord of the Underworld- A figure of writhing black smoke that pulses with life and flame. It wears a crown and cloak made up of chaotic white flames.

Notable Abilities

Inherent Spellcasting

As beings of pure magical energy, the High Celestials are capable of performing feats of spellcasting that far exceed what even the most advanced Celestial spellcasters are capable of. Their affinity for magic makes their abilities far more akin to warping reality than simple magic.

Divine Magic

Due to their divine nature and their affinity for magic, Celestials are able to access their own divine power as fuel for their magic, allowing them to cast spells that arcane magic cannot reproduce

Divine Gift

Celestials have the ability to gift a portion of their power to other beings, allowing the being to access a portion of the Celestial's immense power and allowing mortals to cast divine magic; although this can easily overwhelm the caster due to the inefficiency of their body in channeling such raw power.

Domains and Realms

High Celestials, much like their lesser counterparts, can gain divine domians: aspects of existence that they hold power over and gain power from. In addition, however, they also hold power over specific realms, such as the Celestial Realm or the Abyss, which function in similar ways to domains. When within their own realms, High Celestials are immensely powerful, always in their Monarch Forms, and nearly untouchable in terms of raw power, even compared to the other High Celestials as they have full control over the entirety of their domain. Within their own domains, High Celestials can exert their powers freely without fear of interference, as they themselves are not affected by the limitations of the Material Plane.

When outside their own domains, High Celestials are still immensely powerful, but not quite so strong compared to when in their own realms. They can retain their Monarch Forms, though they can no longer do so indefinitely. If they attempt to exert too much power within another's domain, they will either be repelled, or simply fail to affect anything at all.

Additional Information

Geographic Origin and Distribution

Although they can traverse the planes freely and with ease, the High Celestials choose to remain in their realm, usually to protect it from their kin. On the rare occasion that one does leave their realm, it is only in matters of grave importance or to meet with one of their brothers.

Average Intelligence

Near omniscient, being able to percive the universe in its truest form and having mental abilities far exceeding even the smartest mortal creature. Omniscient within their realm.

Civilization and Culture

History

Created by Xeun and imbued with a portion of its incredible power, the High Celestials were to be the keepers of creation. The power they were bestowed shaped the High Celestials into powerful beings, with godlike powers in their own right

Each of these keepers were given a kingdom to rule, a realm all their own. Once each was given a kingdom, the three sons came to their creator seeking a population to rule. The Xeun, having expended too much energy to create three kingdoms for its sons, decided these realms would serve as the afterlifes for mortal beings.

Over time, as the brothers fueded, the elder two began to give in to their lust for power, and began battling eachother for supremacy. As they fought, their forms began to become less and less pure, reflecting their corrupted spirits. Warping the realm of the eldest brother, Selvol, into The Abyss and the realm of the middle brother, Soketh, into the Underworld.

The divinity shed as the elder brothers forms warped was absorbed into the youngest brother and his kingdom, granting him the power to intervene in his once stronger brothers' conflict and evolving his kingdom into the Celestial Realm

The youngest brother, Sceos, created the Celestials, in an attempt to improve upon Xeun's work and to help defend his kingdom from the feuding of the brothers.
