Runes

Runes are the magical symbols that allow magic to pass from the Outer Planes into Xelestar. Each of The Twelve Pillars of Creation  (and, by extension, their Home Realms) have a series of runes that when learned and drawn, amplify one's ability to communicate with the God's and potentially acess a fraction of their power for their own means. 

As a result of their ability to access such immense magickal forces, rune drawing is explicitly forbidden for most individuals of Xelestar. The most dangerous of these, as taught by The Lykorran Tutor , allows its wielder to to access The Void directly for example, but is almost guaranteed to consume its user entirely with @void.
