Lykora

"Mother of Night"

The second born of The Twelve Pillars of Creation , Lykora was formed in the same instant as Xelestar as the planet's inclusion in the universe finally created a means of casting shadow in the areas hidden away from The Nascency's searing light. Since this time, Lykora has existed as an antithesis to The Nascency though Nascent Design makes it evident that this does not provoke Lykora to enact evil deeds on the mortals of Xelestar. Lykora's name is a portmanteau of the Elvari words for "Dark" and "Mother".   While Lykora was the first Pillar to ever communicate with The Nascency , she is viewed as the second born Pillar as many believe Feltremar to have always been alive despite never being awakened until after The Dwarven Nurturing . Additionally, as most mortals believe that one's purest form can only be accessed after transitioning into the afterlife, most also consider Lykora to be the most beautiful of all of the Pillars.   She is most often depicted as a beautiful woman with a large rounded nose, a wide smile, and reflective obsidian skin. She also typically has glowing white stars for eyes and two braided loops of hair on either side of her face. The eight seperate connection points are meant to be indicative of the legs of a spider, Lykora's Holiest of Animals. It is believed by most that a spider's innate mastery over the realms of beauty and death are evidence of the animal being creation of Lykora.   In Lykora's Home Plan of The Void, the world is subsumed in a total blackness. It is believed by most that only Lykora and the souls of the dead are capable of seeing through this magickal darkness. Most believe it is only briefly seen by the dead as they are sorted into other realms of post-life transformation unless they are deemed truly unsalvageable in which case the soul is returned to The Void and complete destroyed and/or tortured for all eternity. This is further used toward Lykora's role as the Goddess of Beauty as her infallible insight toward the possible perfection of each individual soul is considered uniquely divine.   It is common for guilds or factions that prioritize a connection to stealth or deception to worship Lykora as a unit, as she is often revered as "The Mother of Night" and therefore the greatest divine protector over their craft. Additionally, the Illusion school of magick owes many of it's roots to Lykoran clergy learning to disguise Shatterstar as an untouched field of Fire Tulips during The Campaign of Roses.
