The Nesses Sea, also called Nesses Bay, or known locally simply as "The Nesses", is a large, sheltered bay bounded by the
Wexan Mainland to the south and east, and the
Squall Islands archipelago to the north and west.
Notable Settlements
Ausness
The fishing town of
Ausness lies on the Wexan mainland within its own smaller, sheltered bay. It is the largest settlement on the shores of The Nesses.
Hiberness
The town of
Hiberness on the island of Hiben is the largest permanent settlement on the Squall Islands. It is famous for producing heavy oiled coats and hats that stay dry even in the appalling weather of the region.
Watteness
The small port town of
Watteness lies on the curve of a sheltered cove under the shadow of
Tempest Keep. Tempest Keep is the largest fortification in the area, built on a headland on the mainland side of the channel between the mainland and the Sturmrock Crags.
