Eothas (AY-uh-thahss)

Eothas is the god of renewal and light. He is often represented as a young man holding a candle and wearing a crown of shining silver or as his messengers, the Dawnstars.   Title(s) - The Child of Light, The Dawnstars, The Shining God, The Shattered God,The Scattered God   Status - Deity   Gender - Masculine   Alignment - N/A   Symbol - A sun rising from a starry field   Portfolio - Light, Redemption, Rebirth, Dawn, Spring, Birth   History   Influence over the sun and stars contributes to his overall air of grandeur and importance, putting Eothas at odds with the rest of the pantheon. By divine command, his churches are strictly regulated in their laws of the faith. A candle, lantern, or torch must burn in the center of every room, banishing "shadows of unfaithful" to vacant doorways (Berath’s realm). Doves are traditionally housed in towering rookeries, and crows hunted for miles around.   While worship of Eothas is still popular in the Aedyr Empire and Readceras, the faith is outlawed in most cities of the Free Palatinate of Dyrwood and its followers are often victims of prejudice due to events of the Saint's War that culminated at Godhammer Citadel. Prior to the Battle of Godhammer and the destruction of St. Waidwen, Eothas communicated regularly with his faithful, but he has not done so for the past fifteen years.   The Dawnstars are a manifestation of Eothas, which most people agree have not been seen since they visited Waidwen. According to stories, the Dawnstars appear as the ethereal forms of a man and two women who represent three of the brightest stars in the sky. They act as heralds of things to come, or as heralds of things Eothas wants to come, and as advisers to mortals. The god was believed to have been destroyed at the end of the Saint's War, but many of his priests and followers continued to worship him. His return to Eora at Caed Nua is not yet known to most mortals.   Although most kith dismissed rumors of a giant adra statue crossing the waters of the Deadfire Archipelago, the Abyss Watcher's investigation and reports forced them to confront this reality and the plans that Eothas had for all life, focused on the lost city of Ukaizo, where the greatest of Netherese inventions lay. Eothas' plan to destroy it was a radical step that would alter the very fabric of reality.
