Asherah (ash-uh-rah)
The Sea Walker
The early life of Asherah is undocumented, the man who would become The Wave Walker made little impact until his name crops up in sailing manifestos from the trade routes in The Bru’errich Ocean. Asherah was a devout follower of Aecerinth all through his life and some attest this devotion to be the reason he rose through the ranks and became captain of his own ship so quickly.
Asherah had other plans, however, and stole the ship from the Lady it was owned by. Asherah gathered a full crew of good-willed pirates, stealing from the ships of the wealthy to provide for the poor across the coast of what would become Daevenia . Heavy with a bounty Asherah's ship sailed to one of the villages he frequented only to find the entire village had sunk beneath the waves. He would later find the cause of such a tragedy to be a great Leviathan by the name of Ciocretsk that roamed The Bru’errich Ocean. Asherah swore to Aecerinth he would slay the beast that polluted The Lord of the Waves' oceans with bloodshed and misfortune.
Asherah stalked the beast for a year, Ciocretsk evading his wrath at every turn. Asherah realised the large waves that his ship created alerted the best to their presence allowing it to slip away. As a result Asherah constructed a smaller vessel, a board and sail that used the wind to traverse the waves silently, allowing him to track Ciocretsk and engage in a grusome battle lasting hours but resulting in the Leviathan's demise. Bloody and beaten Asherah prayed to Aecerinth to guide him to the after-life: Aecerinth refused. Instead they guided Asherah to shore, the waves carrying their walker to safety. Impressed by Asherah's resolve, ingenguity and devotion Aecerinth anointed him as their Divine Champion, fuelling him with divine energy, healing his wounds and sending him off to continue to fight in their name.
