Fenwick, Fenwick, and Fenwick
General Summary
Morning of Horisal the 1st
Fenwick of Labenda begins at the Labenda homestead near the evening as Fenwick makes an attempt to leave when Lionerdhon of Labenda tries to stop her by grounding her. Although it's very unconvincing given that he has a fresh bleeding wound on his forehead from a botched piercing attempt by Piercing Fenwick. Fenwick argues the point and bails from the balcony and makes her way to town. On her way she finds some of the farmers along the way discussing the wound and checking on Fenwick as she hops on a boat and leaves.
In town, she finds most everyone closing up shop and headed home for the evening as the boat drops her off at the shoreline of Berleben. She walks a short distance in where she finds Darrow Pharadon furiously cleaning the shrine of Pholtus. Darrow asks of the one who is supposed to be cleaning the shrines and are informed by a passerby that they might be found in the tavern up the road. As they head there, a large white wolf barrels by and into the tavern where he retches up a pile of junk on the floor. Berieve Eastwood berates him and sends him upstairs. Fenwick and Darrow ask about the Idolmaster of whom was supposed to be with one of the other Fenwicks. They are informed that Piercing Fenwick is supposably the new Idolmaster but has dissappeared along with the other cousin. Darrow and Fenwick order their drinks and wait for them to show. Grol Korvack comes down the stairway changed into his werewolf form as he puts his hair into a braid. Grol is looking for an old shaman friend of his who was last seen entering into the swamp, unfortunately, the intense smell of the forest prevents him from venturing in very far. They converse at the bar when they do notice that Grol and Darrow's appearance has garnered some attention. Darrow announces his intent on finding the apprentice idolmaster when a person in the back end of the room near the fireplace dives under his table. Grol walks over and lifts the table up for Darrow to speak with Billy Bob, who was supposed to be their eyes in order to keep them out of trouble with the authorities. Berieve makes mention of Swamp Swill and starts to explain as Grol picks up Billy Bob by the leg and spiral tosses him to Berieve who easily catches him and sets him down in the chair. He mentions that swamp swill seems to only be found out in the swamp which is where the Fenwicks have apparently gone. The three decide to venture into the swamp, all with a different goal in mind, but all rely on finding the Fenwicks. Darrow is also now convinced that the swamp water of Berleben and Labenda is near divine water.
The party leaves Some Tavern and heads back towards Fenwicks boat and makes way to the swamp. Darrow is confused by the fact the boats in the swamp are all powered by magic and thought. Fenwick knows of a potential place to check for the Fenwick cousins deeper into the swamp. Grol has a hard time with the smell of the swamp but manages to keep it together for the most part. The wildlife is threatening but docile during the trip. Grol ends up getting sick enough to fall out the front of the boat while Darrow and Fenwick barely manage to keep their balance from the sudden departure of weight. Several crocodiles are drawn to the noise and surround the boat, Fenwick senses something different about the way the crocodiles are acting as they begin to attack. After a few attacks, they realize that these crocodiles are in fact undead as their body parts are flopped off but they just keep coming. A few well placed hits to the zombie crocs takes care of them and some of the undead guts got onto Grol's nose which masked the smell of the swamp for him.
They gather back in the boat and discuss why they were undead and continue on their way. The swamp gets more sinister as they go forward and Fenwick is able to find the way to a set of ruins the Fenwick cousins are known for visiting. A large singular tower covered in moss sits out of the swamp barely on land, they party moves through the path when Grol hears a group of people at the opening to the ruins. Grol walks down the path and triggers an arrow trap that hits both Grol and Darrow. The fact that traps have been set up at a known party spot gives fenwick a sense of danger going forward. A torch is seen near the entrance as Grol drags his sword across the ground as he walks forward. A guard shines his torch out and calls out to the darkness, Darrow casts Thamaturgy on Grol's voice as he calls back to the guard, frightening him. Grol questions him about swamp swill and proceeds to grab him by the back of his shirt and begins dragging him into the ruins. The guard they dragged down with them turns into a test dummy for traps down each corridor, even after the supposed repentance of Pholtus from Darrow. They proceed down the path to the left and find a pile of red stones lying on the ground, Grol pushes the guard down onto the red stones which begin burning the guard alive. This attracts the other bandits down the path to which Grol picks him back up and stands him up proper as they approach. The bandits have a coniption over Grol as he finally decides to rename the Fenwick cousins Fen and Wick then tosses the guard back at the fire rocks. As they battle they continue to try to coerse the Fenwicks location to no avail. After being dealt with, Grol grabs one of the bandits nearly dead and drags him behind as they continue down the corridor. He proceeds to wake him up in order to ask for directions then knocks him back out. They find a small acid pond with boat floating precariously near a dock leading to an uphill path.
