The Nulls

The Nulls are one of two major gangs within X-City, operating entirely out of A-Town. Originating in A-Town soon after its founding, the group views cybernetic enhancements as the beginning of the downfall of modern society, working to nullify them at any opportunity. The gang is currently led by Elias Rook, a cybernetic researcher who was displaced by the collapse in 2178. He and both current and former members of The Nulls keep his exact whereabouts a secret.

Most of the gang’s activity is through mass hacking events, typically targeted at corporate events or large gatherings outside of A-Town. They have received widespread attention and ire recently due to their indiscriminate hacking affecting civilians, furthering tensions between those in the sinkhole and the rest of the city. This is contrasted by their widespread approval within A-Town, as they act mostly as a regulating force within the sinkhole.

There is no known membership process, but the gang appears to initiate new members by tasking them with frying a random bystander’s neural chip remotely. Original members of the Nulls were mostly cybertech workers affected by the sinkhole collapse, but since 2178 the group has amassed membership extending far beyond that. Current members are largely either descendants of the original few, or simply recruits from A-Town that are sympathetic to the group and equally antagonistic towards X-Corp and X-City at large.
