Scrap Hunters
“Hmph, those kids are insane, risking their asses all for a few measly pieces of junk. What’s the point in putting your life on the line for hardly any profit?” - Cynical A-Town Resident
Scrap Hunters and Scrap Hunting is a unique job in A-Town to salvage items from the rubble of Facility Gamma. Some hunters will sell the items to the public, while others barter them to A-Town researchers, and many go into Facility Gamma hoping to find parts to use for themselves. Most hunters tend to be young adults and teenagers due to how physically demanding the work is.
When people first began populating the sinkhole, exploring the collapsed facility was seen almost as a test of courage among the youth. Yet, after a few individuals went missing, many residents aimed to keep Gamma off-limits. However, many younger folk still tried to explore the area, and over time, had created routes through the collapsed building as a good amount of it hadn’t been crushed under rubble. It wasn’t until 6 years later, in the year 2185, that a group of individuals returned from Facility Gamma with materials and cybernetic parts that had been salvageable from the wreckage. According to these individuals, they had managed to get to some of the upper levels of the wrecked building, assumed to be too unstable to enter, and found various containers made of extremely durable materials. Inside were what they could only assume were unfinished prototypes.
This group publicly called for the residents of A-Town to overcome their fears and help explore Gamma to find the treasures within. They began to call themselves the first Scrap Hunters, and soon, many followed suit, creating a new work organization focused on discovering what remains within Facility Gamma.
