Sukoshio Suji
The Wavesplitter
Sukoshio - Shio to most who knew him - was the son of the False Dragon and river goddess, Sujinami, born into the tail end of the Age of Lords. Little did he know that he'd be the one to end it.
He was always a curious young man, and one that loved to explore. This was something very much encouraged by his uncle, Ryujin. With Shio's father gone, Ryujin became much of a father figure to him. Also, being the son of a goddess, he was deeply acquainted with the yokai that surrounded his mother's spring.
With his adventurous heart, it was only a matter of time before he left the forest to see what else there was to see in Yugawa. It was then that he met Takashi. The two shared a desire to find out what lie outside of their little archipelago. As Takashi was an apprentice Shipwright, and Shio was just crazy enough to actually start the voyage, it was only a few months before they started preparations.
They set sail in 4832, making the first year of the Age of Exploration. Together with his Takashi, Shio managed to set foot on the shores of Havan, Antioch, Astozia, and Gorrum. After returning home, Shio was put in charge of a second voyage, this one backed by a number of Daimyo with the express purpose of establishing colonies. They set sail in 5AE, and managed to colonize Matsura on the Astozian shores. Unfortunately, a massive storm struck the fleet, causing them to lose five ships off the coast of Gorrum. These lost sailors would create Higashi.
Up to and long after his death, Sukoshio was seen as a champion of Ilian culture. He is also fondly remembered as a hero of the Feroxian people for giving them new technologies and opening the world to them while also respecting their history and traditions.
