Magnus Godfrey Redfellow II

Kaleo Takifonga

Kaleo Takifonga was born to lower-class Lion Chimera parents in one of the mid-level cities in Havan. He had few opportunities afforded to him, but he was a prodigy of the mandolin – an instrument introduced to his people by the Repenian settlers.   With his mandolin in hand, he made a name in his town before he had even grown his mane. Alas, most of the Repenians – the citizens with all the money – only saw him as a street act. When he finally did get a stage performance, it was for a minstrel show. He tried to play heartfelt ballads and epics, but the Repenians jeered and told him to dance. Barely more than a child, he obliged, dancing and playing silly limericks to the crowd's uproarious enjoyment.   Over time, he came to realize that he would get no respect as a Havish native. He could be the greatest bard in the world, but he would never be able to reach his dream of being a great musician, praised for his enthralling songs. So, at the ripe age of seventeen, he took his mandolin and a pack full of his necessities, kissed his mother and father goodbye, and left for Repinas City, the capital of colonial Havan.   In the city, he was still doing minstrel acts. Within months of his arrival, he was asked to start playing theater shows, doing the same stupid songs and dances. He detested the crowds for cheering as he made himself the fool, but he made enough money to get himself a room at the nicest inn in the city and even send some to his parents.   After a year of playing his shows, he actually got an invitation to play for the Count at his birthday feast. There, he caught the attention of Morgan Kraavos and Enoch Renfield, the two of them asking if he wanted to come with them back to Kalastrad. He did, changing his name to Magnus Godfrey Redfellow II.

Mental characteristics

Personal history

From his humble beginnings as a much-ridiculed minstrel, Kaleo Takifonga rose to prominence, though still as the butt of a joke. It wasn't until he was playing at the feast of Count Maliaque that he caught the eyes of people who would respect him as a musician. As he came to find out, Morgan had similar problems being Aberian. He also had to assume a pseudonym in order to get respect, but Enoch helped greatly.   Since then, he has been able to travel the world as a musician, even being asked to serve as an Ambassador of the Arts in Kalastrad, Astozia, and, currently, Antioch.

Mental Trauma

He was traumatized by his first show when he was publicly humiliated by the crowd and mocked just for being a Feroxian.
