Lycan's Rash

Lycan's Rash is a reaction had by many Humans to the herbal remedies used to treat the early stages of Lycanthropy. While this has no effect on the majority of creatures in Wyrth, as most are either immune to sickness caused by plants (SylfGoblin, etc.) or have hardy enough systems as to break-down the compounds, such as Orcs. However, Elves actually get it worse than Humans.   In any case, if an individual does contract Lycan's Rash, a quick reaction is necessary. If untreated, the rash will either cause swelling that spreads to the throat and causes asphyxiation, or the rash will split open and the individual will contract an infection. Either way, those with limited access to expert medicine are often most at risk. This is doubly true, as they also have the highest incidences of Lycan's Rash due to poor education. While the herbs are readily available in many forests, their use for treatment requires careful study - something all but un-taught outside of Skipjacks. Therefore, even if a patient is succumbing to Lycanthropy, the use of the herbs may be incorrectly performed, and Lycan's Rash will result. There is also the possibility of misidentification, and thus using the herbs on someone who doesn't need them.

Transmission & Vectors

The rash can be transferred from person to person by contact with the liquid that comes from the rash. However, the main method by which people contract Lycan's Rash is through consumption of the herbs used to treat Lycanthropy.

Causes

The rash is caused by a reaction to the compounds in the herbs. When dosed correctly, these herbs are incredibly helpful in the treatment of Lycanthropy, and even some other diseases. However, if used wrongly or used on a person that doesn't need them, the patient will likely contract the rash.   Still, it should be said that this condition only affects Humans and Elves, so other races have little to worry about.

Symptoms

The condition is signified by a rash on the chest. This rash will have raised, liquid-filled bumps in a field of red skin. As the condition worsens, the skin will darken and the bumps will turn pale. This indicates that the rash is moving into the blood and will soon cause the patient to have internal complications.   If the liquid from inside the bumps can cause the rash to spread to other parts of the body if it isn't covered, as it will stay on the fingers of anyone who touches it until they wash, and is viscous enough to spread via flow over the skin.

Treatment

The primary treatment is to drink a tincture made with green tea, ginger, and tumeric. This is then paired with a rubbing of sap from a tree called the "Camela" on the actual rash, and covering it with bandages.
