Bushi

Bushi are the warriors of the Yugawan wilds. Like Samurai, they study the sword, but they go beyond that, learning how to open their chakras and release their inner spirit. This allows them to do incredible things like move faster than the eye can see, levitate their blades, or catch arrows from the air. As many of their skills and practices are in keeping with the traditions of the Yugawan Monks, many schools of Bushido are attached to – or at least affiliated with – a monastery. While many of these skills are powerful in their own right, the reason they do it is not strictly for arbitrary boosts. They need these skills in order to achieve their purpose: fighting Yokai. The spirits and magical creatures that call Yugawa home are unique and fascinating creatures, but many are also powerful and malevolent. In order to protect the people of the mountain villages, and even the cities, Bushi are needed to fight them. Since no ordinary person can go up against them, the Bushi must.   An example of the necessity of their skills is the Third Eye Chakra. This is believed to be the one linked to psychic energy, but it also allows the Bushi to see the ever-elusive Ayakashi type Yokai. Another example is the opening of the Crown Chakra, which allows for enough holy energy to cut down the Mononoke type Yokai.   As a result of the nature of their work, the Bushi rarely stay put, and, when they do, they tend to live on the lower end of society. There are some, however, that are able to make a good deal of money and make a name for themselves.

Qualifications

In order to become a Bushi, one must complete training at a school of Bushido. This isn't technically a requirement, but it's very difficult to open the chakra without training, and it's nigh impossible to fight Yokai without the power granted by open chakra.
