Aberia

Aberia is the birthplace of Abian culture and the current lands of the wandering Aberian tribes. Though they were once a great empire, ruling the entire continent of Ymrak, they are but a shadow of themselves. Few can say what it was that caused them to abandon the Old Strongholds, but it has kept the tribes nomadic for over three thousand years.

Geography

Aberia is mostly hilly plains, but is carved up by mountains. In these mountains, the environment is mostly taiga with even some tundra to the far east.   The western coast is characterized by craggy cliffs with few natural paths to the sea. the majority of the docks that do exist have roads and scaffolds built and carved into the cliffs over the last few centuries. The weather here is temperate, causing fog to roll over the cliffs and hover on the water during the seasons of change.   The central part of the country is lowlands with the mountains encircling to the north and south.   The east is a cold, harsh land. The tallest of the mountains are on the east coast, ensuring that very few Aberians ever try to reach Ymir's Wall.

History

A long time ago, Aberia was the seat of power for the Abian people. They had all kinds of castles and infrastructure. Now, all call those the old strongholds. They used to be great Lords. It was one of the most powerful places, not just in Ymrak but in the entire world, uniting the whole continent. It's the reason the Wyrthean calendar is now the Abian one. The Aberians were the ones who actually ruled the world. The Altians had no combat abilities, they were just the thinkers and the smart guys. The Faroxians couldn't unify due to so much infighting. Clavan Orcs had an identical issue. Aberia contrastly figured out stratified power levels that worked well. The old strongholds still stand due to their advanced engineering and architectural methods. Some reach up to 50 feet high, including massive stone swords large enough giants could not wield them. Flat hilltops with these swords were the meeting places of kings, neutral grounds often hosting the Feast of Clans. All weapons were left outside the circle, a symbol of neutrality. They established some of the oldest religions, including Loch Doire and Dumyla.
