Reading Challenge 24
How Summer Camp Went
So, I participated in Summer Camp this year for the first time. It was an interesting experience for me. I wasn't sure how well the prompts would fit with the world I was bringing into World Anvil. Surprisingly, most of them fit well, at least of the ones I could envision in my Sielah Universe, even if most of them don't directly play into what I'm writing for the world. And I'm okay with that because I did find a way to tie them in so that the potential to use them in something is there.
And I had intended to do prompts in both worlds. As it turned out, I could only submit one article per prompt and so decided to work almost exclusively on Sielah Universe. I did two articles in Caelum Prime but only one got submitted to Summer Camp.
Here is the homework I did in prep of Summer Camp:
I did take the time to tag them for myself so that I can find them without issue. Plus it will help remind me that I can't edit until next month, at least on these articles. It's still nice to have all the articles listed here for myself and well as for you all.
Here is the full list of the articles I did for Summer Camp.
Since the prompts helped me out so much, I'm looking forward to doing it again next year.
Reading List
So, I'm sponsoring the prize for the A naturally sheltered location prompt. And this is where my reading list starts.
What I learned from reading others' articles
- Don't make it bland and dry
- Even a little bit of information can hook readers
- Hook the reader with a story
- Subvert Cliches
Goals
There are several goals I'd like to work on here in the second half of the year.- Finish editing the short stories of The Doomsday Codex: A Historian's Dark Unveilling from my Caelum Prime world.
- Write Josiah's story to make The Doomsday Codex: A Historian's Dark Unveilling a complete work.
- Continue to expand the Sielah Universe
- Depending on how quickly I get 1 and 2 done, edit Josiah's story.
