Tuhrau/Zjadian

Culture

Major language groups and dialects

Tuhrau has a blend of Wokaiyan and Yukuric dialects, stemming from its nomadic heritage in Yukur and its civilization influence from Irewa and the Werai. Most of Tuhrau cities' names stem from a loose pronunciation of Wokaiyan terms and can be spoken with a Yukuric accent.

Culture and cultural heritage

An originally migratory people, Tuhrans spread themselves from the continent of Tuhra to Wlitowa, Unterritory, and even back to Yukur. This has given Tuhrans the feeling of parentage across southern Wouraiya, a feeling that gave way to pride. Even so, the continent of Tuhra is special in the Tuhrau culture, even to those who have split off, such as the Wlitowans.

Tuhran food is the best in the world. The culinary arts are fueled by creative expression and agricultural opportunities. People experiment with new flavors and patterns all the time, to the point where each culinary culture in Southern Wouraiya has at least some roots in a Tuhran kitchen.

Shared customary codes and values

Tuhrans believe in the enrichment of the self above the pursuit of ambitions. Games, comedies, and small things that bring amusement are all the rage, and the City of Five Roads has no shortage of them. Slapstick, wrestling, and other forms of physical expression are commonplace. They value hard work but largely as a tool for the competition and the survival of the fittest that they so love in society.

Common Etiquette rules

Tuhrau culture is significantly more physical than the Irewan cultures of Wouraiya. Friends are greeted with hugs, and reaching across the dinner table to acquire food is natural, and in fact encouraged.

Common Dress code

The deserts of Yukur brought with it face and body coverings, to protect from the desert storms that picked up from time to time. The fertile plains of Tuhra didn't provide these harsh conditions, which relaxed the look considerably. Cloths wrapped around the neck cover robes that flow from the shoulders downward. In the colonies and Wlitowa, these origins are even further separated from the Yukuric roots, to the point where only the neck coverings are identifiable as Tuhrau/Yukuric in origin.
