Retout'krah: Eastern Uprising
The Conflict
Deployment
The Wlitowa Army travelled down Tuhra's southern coastline, while the Keyrit military zigzagged between colonial and national holdings along the Strait of Uketya. The attempt was to overwhelm the Tuhrans with a two-sided conflict, capturing most of their satellite cities before closing in on the capital. Because most of the trade hubs of Unterritory followed the southern coastline, it would also knock out the rebel economy.
Battlefield
The Tuhran Militia made several attempts to block Keyrit amphibious landing and assault. The terrain was usually a small strip of sand but predominantly a grassy, gravelly terrain.
Conditions
The invaders waited for optimal weather conditions before setting sail. The weather was overcast for most of the invasion, but there were no recorded instances of rain. Regardless, the sand was wet, and wind made the seas choppy.
The Engagement
Naval doctrine was not part of Tuhran tradition. Even with a sizable makeshift fleet, the tactics employed by the invaders splintered the fleet, both strategically and physically. The Tuhran Militia couldn't travel as fast on foot as the Keyrit Army on the seas, and so each of the town garrisons were overrun, with the exception of a skirmish at Welkwu. There, the Keyrit Army retreated to its transports, ultimately besieging the town using the combined occupation forces from other captured towns and its navy. The Wlitowa Army encountered much less resistance and recaptured the capital, only to find it practically empty.
Outcome
The relatively low death toll of the imperialists greatly reduced the desire for rebellion within the occupied territories. The colonial defense was cut off from funding and support but continued as a guerilla force for the next few decades. Instead of joint occupation by Keyrit and Wlitowa governance, control of Tuhra was ceded to Wlitowa, while control of outlying islands and Unterritory was ceded to Keyrit.
Aftermath
At the request of Keyrit authorities, Welkwu was given relative autonomy, as an option for dissidents against Wlitowa occupation. Tuhran natives were offered unsettled Keyrit land and vice versa, in the attempt to better integrate the two cultures.
