Personal history
Claire did resonably well at school, but always had a desire to be an actress, she wanted the fame and the money. She married early at 20 to her high school sweetheart. She attended acting school, but has had difficulty picking up work and now works in a gin joint. Her marriage failed spectacularly and she has since fallen to alcoholism and depression. Her partner had moderate sucess early on in a rock band, but the band split after a falling out over drugs.
She is trying to moderate her drink habit but as of yet the family hasn't been able to convince her to give it up, though she is seeing a therapist for her depression. She is not yet convinced that she has a drink problem.
Mental Trauma
Claire and dead brother were quite close growing up and she took his disappearance hard. probably one of the reasons she turned to drink. She stil holds on to the possibility that he may still be alive but not as deluded about it as her mother.
