GM Notes: An Elf from Kapazand - Isodaen Urien
Isodaen Urien is an Elf who lives in Kapazand proper, and serves as a guide and patrol leader in the underground areas directly surrounding the city. She is Shanahanah Urien's ex-wife. While their marriage has ended tragically, she still loves Shanahanah, and still trusts him and values his opinion. If the PCs have won Shanahanah's trust, she will be inclined to listen to them and help them. If they haven't, she may still be inclined to listen to them when his name is mentioned. She, like him, has a soft spot for the oppressed, especially Vampires, but she fears Aszaryn and knows to be wary of expeditions sent from that city.
This is the Elf that will journey with the party back to Aszaryn to attempt to persuade the mortals there to join forces against the mutants of the World Above. If the PCs convince her to assist them, she will be a valuable asset with her knowledge of the area surrounding Kapazand. If they win her friendship, she even has hand-drawn maps of some of the surrounding area that she may share with the characters.

Personal history
Isodaen is a curious, adventurous soul who always found the thick walls of Kapazand constricting. She liked to dig into nooks and crannies, and always had to take the road less travelled.
She and Shanahanah were childhood friends, and she actually sowed the seeds of her own tragedy. As a curious child, she wanted to explore the surface world, so she followed the Vampire work crews one day. Shanahanah went after her, and searched her out in the fields aboveground, but Isodaen had gotten distracted by a side tunnel on the way up, and was playing with an ant colony. This was the brief exposure to The Blight that led to Shanahanah's infertility as an adult.
It was Shanahanah who chose to end their marriage over this. Isodaen thinks it was because they'd always talked about having children, and he didn't want to stand in her way. That was part of it, but not all of it. Shanahanah made sure there was no turning back and embraced vampirism, partially because of this, but also because he feared that should he actually turn out to be capable of fathering a child, he might sire some Blight-twisted monster upon Isodaen.
Since their marriage ended, Isodaen has thrown herself into her duty as underground patrol leader with a vengeance. She has probably explored more of the area surrounding Kapazand than any other living soul in it, due to her penchant for risk-taking and her desire to distract herself. Should the PCs win her trust, they will have a valuable ally. However, should the PCs manage to offend her, she will offer only the barest minimum of help, occasionally saying things like, "You shouldn't go that way."
