The original idea for the world setting was inspired by Lois McMaster Bujold's Five Gods series. About the third time I read the series, while working on a homebrew RPG based on D&D 4E, it occurred to me that her system of practical theology could be really easily adapted into the 4E concept of power sources. I changed it a bit to fit the game system and increase the overall level of magic in the world, but I borrowed the structure of her theology/magic system wholesale. I've also used a lot of place- and people- names, but changed events and descriptions to suit my needs. Ibra, Chalion, and Rocknari princedoms will have a similar culture to that in the book, but the Weald is somewhat different, and the other nations are entirely different. Note, I contacted Bujold and was told that since this is a non-commercial work, she considers it fan fic, and gave her permission to use her ideas.   The Rocknari and Iskryne culture and names, and the idea of the wolfmagaeth is taken from Iskryne trilogy by Sarah Monette and Elizabeth Bear. I contacted Elizabeth Bear, and she likewise gave her blessing to use it in my non-commercial work.   Cedonia is influenced by Frank Herbert's Dune (I used the bene gesserit in plotting out the Cedonian Temple of the Mother) and a little bit by the Stargate movie/series.   Dratharca's capital city will be borrowed wholesale from the description of Anuket City in T. Kingfisher's Clocktaur War books, assuming she gives her permission. (She's one of my favorite authors, so even if it's legal for me to use her ideas, I'd rather not have her mad at me about it. Read her books!)   The images used are mostly either in the public domain or are tagged online for non-commercial reuse. The rest are created custom by me for the site. If you are the original owner of an image I used and do not give permission for it's use, please let me know. I did not steal on purpose, but by mistake.
