Cinder Fall

The Queen of Glass

Written by ReaverArklight

Black Queen | Phoenix of Atlas | Elegant Swan of Mistral (a.k.a. Cin | Cindy | Cinny)

Cinder Fall is a complicated figure with a sorted past in regard to the SDC and the Kingdom of Atlas. Cinder's first name was Cinder Falleaf, she was born into the family but soon after her Mother died and her Father left the family, resulting in Cinder being sent to Madame Falleaf in the Glass Unicorn at the age of 10 where she served as a Slave for 5 years and used as an example to the other Faunus Maids as to what happens if they disobey.   Soon A Huntsmen named Rhodes found her during a secret mission to confirm reports of child slavery at the Glass Unicorn, becoming attached to Cinder and teaching her how to fight. Eventually, Rhodes had enough and Ironwood authorised a Raid against the Glass Unicorn, overseen by a Younger Clover from the budding Ace ops. The Raid went sour when Cinder prematurely killed The Madame and her two cousins, Avara and Cinistra.   Due to her age and lack of proper upbringing, Cinder failed to understand what she did wrong, resulting in Rhodes trying to get her out before the authorities could arrest her and send her to the juvenile Detention Centre. Improper conduct by Atlas Soldiers and fear within both Cinder and Rhodes led to a direct confrontation with authorities and resulted in Rhodes's death at the hands of an Atlas Sniper, Cinder escaped but blamed Ironwood and Clover for what happened to Rhodes.   By the age of 16, she was discovered by Salem and brought under her wing, spending the next few years becoming Salem's protege, secretly learning Dark magic to control Grimm. At the age of 17 Cinder recruited Mercury and Emerald and by 18 began organising her master plan to bring down the Kingdom of Vale. However she was 17-18 now and her Empathy was beginning to develop thanks to outside contact, using a special parasite Grimm, Salem gifted Cinder the ability to steal Maiden Powers at other expense of hampering Cinder's emotional development and Mind controlling her.   Yet despite that, she ended up befriending Ruby and her friends, critically Pyrrha Nikos who she ended up empathising with and Admiring Greatly even though she planned to kill her from the start. Her Morality began changing as a result of all the outside world contact and Mercury's deceptive attempts to push her toward betrayal so he could claim prestige and earn Salem's favour, allowing him to reclaim his lost semblance through her magic.   Despite everyone's best efforts even Ozpin's well-placed words, The Parasite and Cinder's own Greed and lust for power won out causing her to destroy Beacon and follow through with killing Pyrrha. Despite her crimes, Ruby in her Silver-Eyed State chose to forgive her before devastating legions of Grimm with her abilities and falling unconscious and subsequently forgetting the incident.   After having her Parasite scorched out and going Semi Rogue for two years, Cinder emerges into Vol 1 as an Anti-Hero, scheming against Salem to deliver the Relics still but save Mistral City from destruction. Cinder learns how to empathise with people and tries to keep as many alive as possible while also succeeding at the tasks provided to her. The success of this will have to be discovered by reading the books.

Personality

Cinder is a surprisingly Warm person, often reciting all the fairy tales she knows often to help people, though during the first 3 Volumes she was doing it to gain trust to make defeating the group easier. She helped in many situations that were unnecessary to do. She often puts on a cold front, threatening those that threaten her while also masking her benevolence partially out of fear of what may happen to them but mostly due to her own denial and insistence that she feels nothing.   She possesses Manipulative Tendencies and struggles with selfishness thanks to her Upbringing, growing as an Isolated Slave. Despite a lack of Formal Education, Cinder is extremely well-spoken and clever. Teaching herself much about the world around her and quickly adapting to situations. She also has a sadistic edge to her, delighting in the death of those she deems deserving, loving to be on top.   In the Early volumes, she suffers from crippling delusion and Megalomania that is shattered shortly after Pyrrha's death.

Ideology

Cinder from an early age learned to detest Rigid Hierarchies and impressions thanks to her treatment by her own family and the mistakes of General Ironwood. Initially starting out as a Generic but violent Anarchist, she developed a strong sense of right or wrong. Loathing the Kingdoms and the system they wrong, hating Faunus Slavery and sympathizing with the White Fang, even if she did use them as pawns.   After Volume 3 she matures into a Pro-Democracy Revolutionary, believing that the problem with the Kingdoms is a Lack of representation and Legal enforcement of the law. Having grown up as a child slave in the heart of Atlas City, she knows how the old ways failed her. She also develops a rigid Anti Corporate edge over how the SDC treats common people and keeps the general masses down.   She also becomes a pretty hefty Racial Egalitarian. That said she still desires to destroy the Kingdoms but not physically, she wants to destroy their structure, burning down the old system and building a new one up. Doing away with the last vestiges of Monarchy and the overt and unfair power they enforced.

Equipment and Abilities

Cinder after Volume 5 (Picture based on another's Art)   Cinder often wears a ballistic weave dress with minor armour pieces and Green glowing Dust Crystals. She is heavy on casting and since Volume 5 is missing her key weapon, Midnight. Resorting to creating her weapons with her Semblance Glass and enhancing it with her maiden powers. Though she lacks her Metal weapons, she can now harden her Glas into a metal-like endurance, blazing with maiden Flames.

Abilities & Fighting Style

Semblance: Incandesent Grace   Cinder has an Elemental Type Semblance that gives her the ability to manipulate Glass and then flames, having a clear volcanic theme to her abilities. She can use this ability in many ways such as casting Fire rifts that erupt into flames under people. Easily manipulate Raw Reacting Dust, specifically Fire Dust. She can form weapons and armour on her body or in her hands and finally, she has a natural affinity for Fall Maiden Powers.   Fighting Style: Dancing Swan
Cinder's Style is personally coined as "The Dancing Swan". It's an apt name as it was designed based on the Ballerina Dances she was forced to learn and perform for her master's delight. Preferring two swords she unleashes an onslaught of attacks while always moving. Using her wit, she's able to give the enemy the dance around striking them when they're at their most vulnerable.   She never depends on one specific style or weapon, using everything she can to defeat many types of enemies. When facing off against large numbers of Grimm, Cinder can unleash truly terrifying elemental might, freezing and melting dozens of Grimm in a devastating Dance of death. She can also emulate other's weapons, most notably she emulates Pyrrha, forming a Glass obsidian shield complete with a Spear and gun, enabling her to use Pyrrha's former style to her advantage.   Because of her renewed respect for others, she is able to meld other's styles in with hers and elegantly strike opponents, matching her pace with her allies to maximize her effectiveness in combat rather than preferring to fight alone. While she could easily be a one-man army, she prefers to compound her effectiveness with others and thus dramatically increase her capacity for fighting.
Her swordplay is really effective and one of her most proficient weapons second only to her bow, she ends up using blades very commonly and despite her youthful age has yet to be bested by many, this is because Rhodes was one of the best Swordsmen in Atlas, complimented by his expert use of maces.
Cinder's ranged options are varied, since gaining maiden powers she can super empower her arrows with Ice and fire, allowing her to freeze up opponents or cause devastating explosions capable of turning entire groups of Grimm into Dust and putting a huge hole in a Atlas Paladin. Her easy summoning of Midnight Bow allows for her to turn knockbacks into a form of attack and thanks to her pretty stellar bow marksmen ship, she can hit pretty good shots.   As a result, she's rarely out of her depth and can only be trained by expert Hunters like Raven or Elite Grimm like the hound and even The Dark Goddess herself, Salem. After her fight with Raven she's humbled to never underestimate her opponents and keep a better watch of her back out of respect for Vernals cunning back shot.

General Reputation

From Volume 1 - 3 and before, Cinder is a well established criminal figure with a long history of violence against the SDC as well as repeated robberies and sometimes even killings of major Corporate figures. Most of her attacks against the Military was normally due to their closeness to the SDC. Cinder never expresses any sort of doubt over these attacks as her scorn for the company is well recorded.    Many of her Wanted posters label her as an Anarchist Terrorist. Remkarbly she was actually incredibly popular in the White Fang and even more popular with the Faunus in general who often enabled or ignored her when spotting her. This is because she is seen as something of a Liberator. Her actions have freed a lot of 'Specially employed' faunus from their shackles and while she personally denies any personal goodness in the affair, you can't deny she's done it a lot given the profound respect she's earned.    After the events of Volume 3, her Stardom faded due to the reality she partook in Beacon's Downfall which is deeply unpopular with everyone but this isn't a permanent state of affairs.    (Read Past Volume 3)

Cinder's Blades, named Midnight Blades were based on the Blades of Rhodes, Swords she stole from Rhodes and used during their escape from the Glass Unicorn. She carried these blades because of her fond memories of the man and to remember her deep grief over his summary execution atop the Glass Unicorn at the hands of Atlas. Eventually, these blades are broken by Volume 5 during her reckoning.   They now persist as enflamed Obsidian Glass, empowered by her Maiden powers. She refuses to let go of Rhode's memory, especially as she begins to take up the Mantle of Huntress.
Cinder is one of the best Huntresses in terms of using Raw Recreations with her Dust, after being empowered by the Maiden powers, her ability to bend the Elements became second to none masterfully. Her favourite Dust to use is Fire and Ice, combining the two as a slight reference to her Autumn theme. Pyrrha also used an autumn theme that only made their eventual friendship more symbolic.   Cinder unlike in the show never abandons her old arsenal because she feels more powerful but continues to fine-tune and perfect her elegant dance. Shattered Dawn's Cinder could easily defeat Main timeline's Cinder because of her varied move set, ability to work with others and her ever-perfected mastery over Dust.
Cinder always has dust embedded into her outfits, even when not visible, it often becomes visible when she uses it. She lights up like a Candle when attacking, thus the Alternate name of her Semblance, Incandescent Grace. This technique is often expensive but highly worth it as dust can run out of energy meaning Cinder's Ninja Outfit was quite expensive but sadly under utilized as she stuck with her favourite dress.
Ruby managed to get a few hits in during her first fight with Cinder on top of the Beacon CCT Tower, rather than responding with outrage and spit, Cinder grew to admire Ruby as a fighter, enjoying how quickly and elegantly Ruby responded when Cinder closed the distance, though she defeated Ruby, she walked away with a renewed sense of respect. Learning from the encounter that not all worthy opponents are celebrated as champions. A lesson that'd serve her well in her fight against Pyrrha later in Volume 3.
Outside of Missions and Combat, Cinder had a lot of hobbies, more than just reading books. She had a taste for the refined and high society. This is thanks to her background, she is an Art connoisseur and knows quite a bit about Wine enough to consider running a Vineyard later in her life. She does a fair bit of recreational dancing, still practising Ballet, though her skill in it started from a dark place, it didn't ruin her passion for it.   Not only is it a form of practice but also a form of expression, when she was a child it was the only way she could express herself without offending, creating her own set of moves with meanings, some insulting so she can insult rude guests without risk of recourse. She also practices public speaking often giving mock speeches to any who'd listen just to refine her speechcraft a little more.   When not doing all of that she prefers to keep company, even while existing as an antagonistic force during the first 3 volumes, Cinder frequently stayed within the company of others whether it was her fellow partners in crime or Ruby's group, most of all Pyrrha.
Neo and Cinder got along pretty well, While Cinder absolutely despised Roman and Roman despised her right back, They both had Neo as a Common friend. After Volume 5, Neo manages to find Neo and after a short battle comes to understand that Cinder isn't to blame for Roman's death. Soon after joining her side, the two become close friends again. Neo Looks up to Cinder and is determined to not leave her side again.
Later in her life, Cinder decides to go for a more down-to-down-remnant aesthetic, wearing some fairly well-padded and warm gear which helped her stay incognito when she needed it. it was inspired by her Mistral Student gear with a very brown colour scheme with subtle dark reds. Though it isn to shown in the picture, she has green crystals in her earings that glimmer in the light.
