Having filled the power vacuum left by the imprisonment of Tharizdun, the Queen of Chaos discovers the prime material plane and power to manipulate souls leading to the creation of the Tanari demons. In order to have sole access to souls she invades Oerth which is already under the protection of the Wind Dukes of Aqaa and the mortal races of Dwarves and Elves.
With their numbers severely limited due to their limited reproduction cycle and loss's to the Queen of Chaos, the Wind Dukes of Aqaa form the Order of the Storm. It's members drawn from the most loyal among their mortal subjects on the Prime Material Plane drawn mostly among the races of Elf and Man.
Mankind becomes the most dominant race on Oerth. The Baklunish, Soluise and Imeprial Empire of Lynn are all at their height.
The Scorpion King of Sulm can no longer ignore the depravities of Kyuss and betrays him. Unbeknownst to him the artifact given to him by the elder evil has a built in fail safe which triggers. This in turn starts the desertficaton of Sulm into the Bright Desert.
Kyuss completes the ritual whereby he transcent into the prime "worm that walks" bringing about the first Age of Worms. Members of the Order of the Storm rise to and successfully banish the elder evil, imprisoning him in the very stone obelisk used for his ascension. Kyuss, chief lieutenant Dragortha carries the obelisk to what would become the Wormcrawul Fissure.
Dragortha wages a brutal war of extermination against the Order of the Storm. Their numbers already severely diminished are nearly brought to the brink of extinction. The elves, raptors and humans who make up the order successfully rally against Dragortha and steal his phylactory thus sparing them further reprisals. In order to preserve their knowledge the Order creates the Fountain of Dreams which contains the memories of all members of the Storm.
After years of gathering and solidfying his own Empire, Iuz strikes at the greater Flannesse. He conquerors: Horned Society, Shield Lands and has partial controll of the Bandit Kingdoms. He has fronts in the war that continue today as skirmishes in Furyondy, the Veesve Forrest and Duchy of Thenh.
Bucknard dies in the Wormcrawl Fissure and his sister is taken by devotees of Kysuss (to be turned into one of their own)
Kyuss is defeated at Alhaster thus preventing the Age of Worms
In the days that followed the defeat of Kyuss, the thousands upon thousands of worms that composed his body plagued the city of Alhaster.
In a desperate act the champions of Alhaster came up with a plan. Use the necrotic energy of the Hand of Vecna to lure the undead worms to feed off of it. While at the same time pinning the hand between two pieces of the rod of seven parts (using it to entrap the worms in the cave system which now stretches below Alhaster).
Elven refugees arrive in Alhaster from the Bright Dessert. Pushed out by the deprevations of Rary the Traitor and his lieutenant Lord Rolibar.
The second in-command of Iuz's '"Legion of Death" chases down the noble Katrina Tolstoff as she tries to find sanctuary in Alhaster after her own barony has fallen to the Old One's Forces. At the city gates the defenders manage to force the half-demon Red Dragon, Imperious Rex to trigger his contingency teleport after falling to the blades of the Elf hero Ashira.
Defenders of Alhaster move to intercept elements of the Black Legion, which are converging upon the city.
The land forces consisting of Tarnuk's (half demon orcs) and Arrow Demons are defeated several leagues from Alhaster at the what will be known as the "Death Legions Folly". Question remains whether our heroes can make it back to the city to help fend off the sea assault on Alhaster.
