Derek Moonfell
Derek Moonfell is an orphan of The Border Wars, his father was a sergeant in the army of the Border Princes and was killed during the siege of Ravenlight Keep, while his mother died when a cannon ball that had struck a tower let loose a chunk of stone, crushing her immedietly. After the Royal Draugen Empire seized Ravenlight Keep, Derek was returned to Port Whitesword where he was sent to an orphanage, only to run away a few short weeks afterwards. He stowed away with a caravan heading up to Mistfen Mire and hopped off when they briefly stopped at the Shabby Roof Inn. The owner, Old Man Shabby, took in Derek as his own, putting him to work in the Inn. Derek is visibly depressed, and his demeanor is anything but jovial, but that all changed in the middle of August 1661. By chance, a stranger calling himself Solaris entered the inn, and for whatever reason, offered Derek a once in a lifetime opportunity. Follow him into the wilds, and Solaris would teach him any skills he could, so that Derek could have a better and more prosperous chance in the world. Derek followed Solaris north until they had reached the village of Nyded, where they encountered what seemed to be a necromancer robbing graves of bodies. A battle in the town ensued at the abandandoned church, where the guards led by Captain David were victorious. Derek was offered a position as Sergeant at Arms in Nyded, making the guards count 13.
