Catharos

Catharos has existed since the dawn of the Catfolk, and even before. The Catharos known around the world is built over top the ruins of an ancient Broken Lord city that was reduced to ash by the great volcano Morloc, the Horrid Fire. There is only one law in Catharos: Do as you will, but do not interfere with trade. Business is Catharos's lifeblood, as it has been for centuries. Bards say Amrosia boasts the finest markets in the world, but those markets pale in comparison with the weird bazaars of Catharos. The city’s busy markets sell all manner of goods, ranging from the mundane, prosaic, and familiar to the illicit, dangerous, and outright bizarre. Buyers from all over Mythris come to Catharos’s great bazaars, which attract traders from as far away as the Duchy of Foridia, Freebridge, and even other planes. On any given street, one might meet a Catharos Catfolk slaver, a Dwarven jeweler from the The Iron Hall (Khara Drong), or an Erinyes assassin from Hell.   Catharos’s lax trade policies allow it to offer delights and wares unavailable anywhere else on Mythris, including its most iniquitous export: Tharos, a powerful narcotic distilled from the spoiled milk of a rare cactus found in the country’s southern desert. Addicts from across the world flock to the lurid Tharos parlors of the capital to wallow in their degenerate indulgences. Even life is for sale here—Catharos is a cornerstone of the lucrative Eastern slave trade. Its bustling slave markets host a bewildering variety of chattel from all corners of Mythris: tattooed warriors from Corair, murderous rhapsodists from the City States of Vedania, Foridian acrobats, fierce Brevan barbarians, Wood Elves mercenaries, and even intelligent apes from the jungles of Avalon.   The city is led by a ruling caste of Sheiks who control all the wealth and power of the country. Currently the most wealthy is Grand Sheik Niana Springpaw, due to her wealth she is the elected ruler until another Sheik surpasses her treasury.
