Carnwrath

Carnwrath has been a permanent looming shadow of the Moors for untold thousands of years. It was said to be carved out of the craggy peaks by the paws of a great beast of shadow and death. It has long been abandoned by its supposed original master, the Draugrwulf. However, over the centuries many have occupied its hollowed halls, bandits, dragons, demons the list goes on. It contains an unknown amount of halls, rooms, or floors, all more deadly than the next. It has been occupied primarily by the Knights of Moor and their King since 1622. In winter 1632, the King of the Moors was overthrown by his subject known as the Faceless. The usurper forced the King to flee for his life, and lose control of his army.   Carnwrath is a massive sight to behold, its walls alone are over two hundred feet tall, let alone its many twisted spires that dart upward. It has been called the red mountain, because until recently the fires of Carnwrath had been dark for thousands of years, but now it glows red, and its massive gate pours a crimson light over the mountain peaks. Legends say the fortress has a hundred floors that stretch beneath the mountains under the stronghold. Each and every one carved to be confusing to invaders and laden with deadly traps of forgotten crafts. During the days of the Draugrwulfs height of power in the Moors. Legend states that its army consisted of all manner of foul monsters and a massive army of corrupted knights numbering over 200,000 strong.   The route to the front gates of Carnwrath lay at the end of a snaking pathway, flanked on both sides by sheer cliffs that drop into a six hundred foot deep chasm. The path winds upward at a twenty degree angle for three miles. The path can only accommodate three to four men abreast at a time. Making the direct route to the fortress a near impossible feat. The only other entrance to Carnwrath is further to the east of the fortress, where would be invaders would have to travel through miles of deep canyons before they reached the underground halls. The invaders would then come across the what has been called Black Ash Gate. The Black Ash Gate is a massive doorway that leads into the underbelly of Carnwrath, the gate itself is defended by a thirty foot thick granite wall that stretches 250 feet from floor to ceiling, guarded by hundreds of firing platforms and arrow slits.
