Ophélie Craicte Lestrange- Gaunt (a.k.a. Serpent of Edinburgh)
Ophélie Gaunt was a Powerful Witch, Grandaughter to Salazar Slytherin on her dads side & Sir Tristan on her moms side and one of the Twelve 7th years who sealed Morgan Le Fey in 1028AD. A skilled Animagus who could transform into a both a Dragon & Basilisk. She was known as the Serpent of Edinburgh. She created the spell transmogrify.
She weilded her Grandfather's wand the Serpents Cunning. Salazar took the wand with him when he left hogwarts in 1000AD. How she came to posess the wand, is a mystery that has yet to be solved. The wand's location has been lost to history.
By 1033AD she had dabbled in the dark arts, hoping to use them for good. Ophélie that year had traveled across England and was approched by Horacio Gryffindor for a request. She humbly denied his request, much to his anger, the two never saw eachother again.
In 1035AD she returned to Hogsmede, where she learned that Alyona and her husband had left weeks prior to hide Morgan Le Fey's sword in the Russian Tundra. While having lunch at Astarte's resturant she met her Husband Laurent Lestrange. She became Pregnant 6 weeks later, & They married later that year. Unkowningly to her, the hostess at the resturant at the time was Misty Greengrass, someone her old Friend Raoul Delacour had a child out of Wedlock with.
In 1037AD she was approched by Alyona Gorlois while in her home in Edinburgh. Alyona's Husband and son were infected with an advanced form of Lycanthropy by an powerful slavic Witch from folklore, Baba Yaga. The two traveled to Russia, searched the wilderness for 6 months for Baba Yaga and defeated the witch. Only for a ghastly curse to be placed on Alyona, the two women seperated & Ophélie trapped with no magic for 6 Months wandering the cold wastes.
Losing her left hand to frostbite, after 24 weeks she found the Volcano where the sword was sealed, only to be approched by an old witch with a resemblence to Alyona. Upon approching, the Witch teleported Ophélie to a small cottage in a village, with her magic restored, Alyona's wand and the cure for Alyona's familes condition.
When she returned, she had gone slightly mad. Her Husband was overjoyed with her return, but was concerned with her declining mental state. They had one more child in this time a girl. Naming her after her lost friend.

By 1040AD, Upon hearing another one of her childhood friends death's, the news of Raoul's death sent her into a downward spiral of Darkness. In 1041AD, she came home one night to find her Husband in bed with another woman, the woman was Misty Greengrass, Ophélie turned him into a disgusting dung beetle & Misty Greengrass into a Basalisk so no man would ever be able to look at her again. Étienne & Alyona went to Savannah Kay's Orphanage in Kirkwall shortly after this.
By 1045AD, the madness overtook her, the last accounts tell she turned her Husband back into a human and killed him with a spell so foul that even most dark wizards would never cast it. She then tranformed into a dragon, and was last seen flying west. She presumed to have died crossing the ocean. She was never seen again, and the Serpents Cunning disapeared with her.
